Writing samples with all three gold nibbed Lamys currently with me.

There is a vast improvement in your handwriting. However, I am not sure I can accept submissions written with a calligraphy nib as it puts others at a disadvantage. Be the good sport that you are and only make submissions for the competition with standard nibs please.

Hi Mack,

The sample writing of the LAMYs are classy, with each one with its own characteristic line width

Point noted re: using calligraphy nibs for submission! (frankly, I've begun to love writing with them!!!)

Here are 2 more entries with 'regular' fountain pen nibs (written with ASA Ebonite Pen using Camlin Black Ink)

My tryst with buying a bottle of “Purple Ink” really took me round the bend! The final ‘Coup de Grace’ was when I called up a well reputed ‘Pen Shop’ only to be told that a bottle of ‘Purple Ink’ was available with them….”PELICAN” and the cost Rs.1250 for a 60ml pack!!!!
Struck dumb, I decided to go by Mack’s advice to concoct a blend of my own! So I picked up a bottle each of Camlin Royal Blue & Camlin Red from my friendly neighborhood stationer…
Next step was to get a few test tubes & a 10ml syringe…… Voila, my Purple Ink was ready!!!
Here’s my entry written with a Camlin Pen with 14K gold plated medium nib

Here's an entry for the competition written with PARKER all steel body with fine nib using Camlin Royal Blue Ink!

This one just for a lark - ARUL Calligraphy Pen with medium nib & purple ink (concocted by me)

Was that a bottle of Pelikan Edelstein or 4001?

The former is expensive but the latter you should get for approximately Rs.400.00

I will try and get you a couple of bottles of Bril's violet in the coming year. Will also include their Royal Blue as it really is nice.

Right on the dot Mack....It was the 'PELICAN Edelstein'

Thanks for the encouragement!
BTW...while scouring the stationary shops for inks, I was surprised to find quite a few local brands of Calligraphy Pens, some with extra nibs, some with nibs + holders, all costing around Rs.200 to Rs.275

On inquiring I was told that the buyers were mostly students from art schools!!!
Incidentally a student of mine whom I had mentored a long time ago came to know of my interest in Calligraphy, sent me this>>>>

This just made my day

Just my humble observation, Your handwriting seems to be better while using the calligraphy nibs. I would suggest getting some particular nibs that replicate the effect of the calligraphy nibs but with thinner lines. Mack may be able to shed better light on what the options are if one is looking for something like that.

Ps. You regular handwriting is just also swell

Good observation

I'm somehow getting to like writing with 'Calligraphy Nibs' - they help me steady my hands a bit!
I recently got myself a 'set' that comes with 5 different nibs....
Yes, Mack did suggest 3 different nibs with line variations....fortunately these are available in the above set....am yet to try them out...
You know watching those 'Calligraphy Video Tutorials' is fun....it appears so easy...but when you put pen to paper...its a different ball game
