Fountain Pens.

Posts that don't fit into any other category. If it's anything to do with guns, it probably doesn't belong here!

After a long (very long!) time the fountain pens came out of hibernation. Here's my entry number one from the humble Parker Vector:

Image

Will practice a little more and submit more entries. With Brihaji ji at full steam, I will need to put in a lot more effort to stand a decent chance.

Here's the plan:
1. For decent spacing and consistency I"ll draw in some custom 4 lined pages.
2. Get varying nib sizes (maybe new pens..expenses expenses!)
3. Practice
4. Practice
5. Practice
6. Submit entry II

Cheers,

Thanks kshitij. I just realised I need to work on my English too, I've completely missed the word "than"! Duh.

Wow - AgentDoubleS - nice work!

The rest of it is just 'copy /proof reading' - nothing to do with your command of the English language - :D
Mack The Knife...Incidentally, it's almost two months to the day since you said you would dig out those fountain pens. So how about it and a writing sample to go with each of them?
Yes sir, I do apologize...I am half way there now - I have dug them out; I shot images on my smart phone (absolutely abominable caricatures - too ashamed to post them)! Now the next few steps - cleaning out the carbs, flushing out the needles, swabbing the floats, flossing out the nibs after giving them a good soaking in a hot tub...

Sorry, I think I may be getting slightly mixed up here...getting my barrels mixed up; maybe I am not firing on all cylinders?!

Boy, oh boy! I positively, cringe when I think of the 'miles and miles to go before I sleep'

Ckkalyan,
Forget the pens, you got a CBX?!
Please do share more images and tell us how she rides. It is one of the motorcycles I'd want in my dream garage's vintage section :D

Waterman 18k Nib - crunched barrel - retooled from scratch by a master pen maker Bangalore. Notice the minor color/shade difference. Also no side-squeezing-clip

Mack The Knife - you know who! I found him after a lot of legwork. I used to love the smell the material gave off while being worked on, on the lathe (similar to the material our old telephones had).

ADS: Thanks for joining up but I am afraid that submission does not count. The comp is for normal everyday writing. Hope you will submit a few entries and tell us about your fountain pens. We like pics.

CKK: The pics aren't visible.

Brihaji, I'm afraid I will have to pull out of the race. My regular handwriting can be compared to a drunk physician writing while driving on MPs potholed roads. What a bummer!

But I'll put up some pics of my Fountain pens soon, including a Cross diary that I use for office notes.

Cheers..

Won another Lamy fountain pen in an auction recently which arrived last Friday.

This is a Lamy 99 (36) with a 14k Fine nib.

In appearance it is pretty similar to the Lamy 27 (30). Mechanically, they are identical.

Whilst the Lamy 27 was introduced in 1952, the Lamy 99 was introduced in 1962. In 1966, Lamy released the now famous 2000, which will complete 50 years of continuous production in the coming year.

The Lamy 99 was a cheaper version, though I fail to understand why. It has a screw-on/off cap as opposed to the 27s slip-on/off cap.

Will attach some pics to this post later on.
