Visiting India Feb to April 2016

Post by Ruari » Thu Nov 19, 2015 3:03 pm

and based in Mumbai.
Have been having travel agent problems, can anyone recommend a travel agent who is familiar with Indian Railways.
The wife and I prefer to travel by train as that way we see more and meet people.
Part of our trip will be by day train on the Konkan Rly, in two stages to Mangalore, where my wife has relatives, then back to Barkur on a local train to see more relatives.

Anyone who might be able to help could PM me.
Thanks.

You could try booking your train tickets online - https://www.irctc.co.in/

Don't have any experience with rail ticket agents as I've been using the railways website to book tickets for the past 13-14 years. Maybe others can pipe in and help.

Cheers!

Using irctc website is the most convenient and cost effective. Just take the printout of ticket and any proof of identity with you on journey.

The Indian Railways used to have a Railpass that was good for unlimited travel during a fixed time period.
Does anyone know if they still have that?
If so, that might be something to look into.
If you want to see the real india, Rail travel beats flying any day.

Thank you all very much but as we have to book accommodation as well and as we lack experience in such matters we really need the services of a competent agent.

We will be visiting Delhi as we particularly wish to see the old city, so Atul, I will PM you shortly, and our thanks to you in advance,
