Re: AARMR Hurricane Model 15. First Impressions. Picture Heavy
Just saw the video of AARMR Hurricane Model 15....
The variations in the FPS are highly inconsistent...from a start of 559 to a maximum of 825 which is mind boggling + the AR seems to be heavily dieseling......
The end result may be that 'accuracy' has gone for a toss!!!!!
Frankly there is no point in owning an AR if it cannot shoot accurate & it has been universally proven that the best FPS in spring AR should be around 600 to 700 with lead pellets for it to shoot smooth & accurate.....

Brihaji, please watch the video once again. Things i noticed while watching it for the second time are:
1. The first shot was at 483 FPS!!
2. Conveniently placed dropper bottle of lubricant next to the right knee of the gentleman shooting the air rifle. Atleast they should kept that hidden from plain view

What are hinting at sir? Lets see, I'll be buying the gun myself by month end, customized to my specs. Will upload results of that as well. That will take some time. Untill then this is the best I could get. Will try to upload video proofs henceforth (provided they do it).GNV wrote:Main,
Have you examined the video closely? I am not doubting you or anything. I frankly think The AARMR guys are taking you for a ride in this video.

Am looking forward to the performance data of your gun post tuning. Did you get that machined guide & new spring as you mentioned earlier? The AARMR guy says Cherokee or Taco springs do very well in it.
Yeah! I was told its a freshly built piece. The dun does diesel a bit when new. Blame the bandook mistris for it. As it breaks in, velocity stabilizes.moulindu wrote:Hi
The gun is dieselling badly...its evident from smoke coming out from barrel, how many shots you have fired before making this test/video. Its not doing any good to the internals...you must do something about that dieselling
Regards Moulindu
Brihaji the gun is still in its prototype stage. The AARMR guys do a few changes to the existing pieces everyday & then test it. I keep in touch & tell them how the problems can be rectified & performance optimized. The 12fpe to 20fpe jump has been a result of this.brihacharan wrote:Just saw the video of AARMR Hurricane Model 15....

This gun was a fresh piece, with the latest mods. After few hundred shots the gun breaks in.
It is due to these ongoing modifications that I have been insisting on people to buy it later with me - which certain people concluded was consistent with pimp-ish behavior.. Pimps like a quick buck & never point out defects in their own stuff!
As far as accuracy is concerned, the gun has a 20" barrel, rifling at par with international brands & a primitive crown. Future models will have chokes to 'resize' Indian pellets as well as 11° target crowns.
There are already people who have the gun & say its pretty good accuracy wise. You can try it out yourself if you wish. If you want, I can see what can be done about it.
If you want it for target shooting only, they do intend to come out with a .177 conventional stock shooting model later on.
Coming from you, this was expected! Are you suggesting the pellets were shot by Rajnikant by spitting them from his mouth? Or that the chrony was 'rigged'..??!kshitij wrote:Not only are they taking for a ride but they are out right questioning our intelligence
With a shot string like that, what is the accuracy to be expected?!
How else do you suggest it can be made 'convincing'? Why don't you fly to Amritsar & check it yourself? Without the 'lube'... Or perhaps s_sharma could go shoot his latest model? Perhaps that could be arranged.kshitij wrote:Brihaji, please watch the video once again. Things i noticed while watching it for the second time are:

As far as accuracy is concerned, there are already people vouching for it. Future models will feature barrel chokes & target crowns also.
In the meantime, I've done my bit as per your 'humble pie eating contest' challenge, as fast as I cud muster it. Hope your 'buy me new gun', 'sign up for one piece' stuffs will materialize now, yes?!
AARMR doesn't pay me for it, but I can safely say this gun will easily best your Indian plinker in terms of sheer power & perhaps accuracy too, on any given day, right out of the box!
Cheers!

Main13,
If you call this crappy video showing an air rifle shooting from 483fps to 825fps in the most inconsistent way possible as proof enough for me to eat my humble pies, you have something truly wrong with you.
I stand by my statements, if you can legitimately prove this air rifle to consistently perform at 27J out of the box, i would be glad to foot your bill for one or If you are ready to guarantee I will get 27J out of the box with this air rifle if I buy one off the shelf, then sign me up for one.
Either ways, i wont even vet your proof submitted myself, i will accept it if our fellow members here accept it.
Beyond this, i have no appetite for your mumbo jumbo dump of lies.
Cheers

With a 'jugaad' video shot on a cellphone in shortest possible time, this is the best quality one gets. I've already asked you how to make it more convincing. Don't just blame, become a part of something good!kshitij wrote:Main13,

You initial statements didn't talk of 'consistency', only power. & Power it is for you..! I don't think any AR performs 'consistently' out of the box, even phoren ones...
Kindly define 'legitimate'. If you take out the word consistent, its already there for you. Consistent out of box power is what firearms throw, not lube-coated ARs operating at few hundred PSI.I stand by my statements, if you can legitimately prove this air rifle to consistently perform at 27J out of the box, i would be glad to foot your bill for one or If you are ready to guarantee I will get 27J out of the box with this air rifle if I buy one off the shelf, then sign me up for one.
However, if you are genuinely interested in buying it, I could share ways to further enhance its power with some modifications.
I have already proposed that you go check it out yourself or send someone else. Can arrange that.Either ways, i wont even vet your proof submitted myself, i will accept it if our fellow members here accept it.
Once 'vetted', should I have the manufacturer send you a gun & bill you for TWO?!
I've already mentioned 'Indian' already.. Haven't I?My plinker isn't Indian, its Russian with a CZ barrel and an average spread of less than 5FPS.
But i guess its no match for the air rifle you are dreaming up
If godly accuracy in an Indian AR is what you seek, I can only suggest you wait for my opposing-piston gun.. Zero recoil, 50fpe, 1/2" spread@100m.
Hope this makes you actually laugh.

Guys!
This diatribe on FPS & FPE has been going on for too long!!!
Let the AR under reference undergo all the improvements & modifications till such time its stands worthy of its claim....
Once achieved .....let's evaluate its claim!!!!
But remember that there is a forensic 12 foot-pound limit on ARs under law...any excess will come under scrutiny by the powers that be....so watch out!

Main13,
I have made my point very clearly.
The more i am having to reply to you, the more i remember Mark Twain's saying, "Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience."
So i cease to argue beyond this point

I had to point out what i pointed out. No more rebuffs on "performance" claims from me. Please get your thread back in line with what you had originally started it for and i leave it upto you to deal with any "claims" on this thread, however you deem fit

I'm not sure if i'm correct but around 00:06 in the video, when the cameraman focuses on the box of pellets, the oil stains are clearly visible on the grey cardboard top of the pellet box. Did anyone else notice this too?

While testing another high power, made in India AR , a 14.5 grns pellet returned 884 FPS or 25 Ft lbs of energy while dieselling.

No need to feel sorry Kshitij.
The purpose for which I started this thread is to report my first experiences with this new Indian Air Rifle as the title of this thread says. I reported my findings. I also posted how to strip this gun to its components and reassemble it. I also posted what I found while doing it. I also posted with what accuracy I was able to shoot this gun at 19 yards with three different pellets before stripping the gun to lubricate. I had also chronographed 12 different pellets before stripping the gun but didn't post the results because I wanted to chronograph those pellets again after properly lubricating the gun and post the pre and post lubrication results. I have not yet done the chrono tests till now because I was rather busy with my plantation work. I intended to that after DIWALI. I'll do it but will not post the results because that would not serve any purpose now. Because the Hurricane I have is already an out of production gun and the new guns coming out of the factory would be totally different ones with so many new tweaks and deliver higher performance as the AARMR guys claim, I see no point in posting what I do in trying to improve my gun to my liking because the new guns most probably don't need any such efforts and nobody would need to know how they can improve their Hurricanes. I have already posted how to strip and assemble the gun for routine maintenance. However I would continue to fiddle with my old Hurricane trying some imported springs and piston seals because I think may be I can squeeze 14 to 15 ft-lbs with JSB Jumbo Express pellets with reasonable accuracy and consistency if I am lucky with my limited abilities. If I am successful in that experiment I'll post the details in another new thread. Now I have nothing to post in this thread that would be useful to anybody.
