Apologies for the very shoddy 'review'.

Paper used is Bilt Matrix A5 pad.

The Luxor seems to be competing in the same segment as the Flair, the design is similar and the price an exact match. :)

Are they both making them in India, or just contract manufacturing/ importing from China?

Cheers!

Luxor is manufacturing it in India. In SIDCUL Haridwar Luxor has a manufacturing unit for Pilots, graphic pens and fountain pens. I have visited once.

Picked this up today. Of an unknown ( to me ) make, Romus. Probably made in PRC.

I liked the transperent look and the piston filling system. Was half expecting it to leak before i filled it. But it filled up well and there were no leaks at all. It writes well and came with a spare nib(both look the same). Would make a nice set of pens if one uses multiple colour inks. Sadly the shop I picked this had just one.

Ya, saw that in Link you posted. I paid almost double. Though paid by my CC points but still ...:(. Thanks to my recent fascination with Ivory color pens. No money for Sailor so .. :)

Pilot used to make fountain pens in India and those were marked as being made in India. The Metropolitan/MR and V Pen are marked 'Japan'. No idea where the Luxor is made. However, they were bought from the Luxor (originally a German pen company) website and shipped from NOIDA. It took just over 48 hours from the time I placed the order to delivery in Bangalore.

Kshitij, that Romus is made in India.

Wah, good to know Romus is an Indian brand. Fairly decent build given the price it is being sold at.
Was wondering what is pierre cardin like logo that all these pen nibs have?

Bought one. Sent it back.

Did not like the fit and finish of the cap bands or the ball on the end of the clip.

If the above does not bother you, go for it. You can also tell Subramaniam, of ASA Pens, to insert a German steel nib for a few hundred Rupees more.

Do NOT buy these off Amazon. Just saw the prices and they are absurd.

Rs.500.00 for a No Nonsense is way too much. Please contact Mr. Subramaniam at http://asapens.in/eshop/ and request him to source you one along with a convertor. If his quote is also high, let me know and I will send you one of mine.

Mack,

I searched the site you have mentioned but could not find any. I had also sent them a query but have not received a reply so far. Their prices seem to be steep to me, particularly of their Indian pens.

How about writing something about pens made or being made in India? I for one would greatly welcome such a write-up. If Moin and others also chime in with their contributions, it would be great.

I thought Rs 500 post free was not a very high price for a Sheaffer No Nonsense considering it is NOS from the 1970s or 1980s. I am, however, grateful for your kind offer to part with one of yours and will take you up on it if I can't find one at a lower price.

Regards.

Miroflex,

Please contact Subramaniam via e-mail or WhatsApp. His e-mail address and phone number are on his website.

You will not find the NN on his website. He can source you various pens, as per your specs, and I have found his rates to be fair. It is he who sourced the NNs, barring the calligraphy set and black NN, for me. I can't for the life of me recall the amount but had they been Rs.500.00 each, I wouldn't have bought any. These too were NOS and came in their original blister pack with cartridges. I doubt I paid shipping but even if I had, it would be the cost of Speed Post between Chennai and Bangalore. Send him a reminder, if you do not hear from him soon. Better yet, call him and strike up a good rapport.

I do not consider his prices for Indian ebonite pens to be steep. Yes, you can buy a Click partial ebonite pen for Rs.300.00 or less. Had they been made in the U.S. or Europe, one would most likely have to pay a minimum of $100.00 or equivalent amount in Euros. Considering we live in a country without social security and the current cost of living, I do not find his prices unreasonable in the least. Anyway, it is not for me to justify his pricing. You can bring the subject up with him directly.

I had mentioned this in an earlier post on this thread, that the best resource for Indian made fountain pens is the Indian sub-forum on Fountain Pen Network - http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum ... nent-asia/

Absolutely no problem parting with a NN should Subramaniam not be able to oblige.

If 500 is not a good price for Sheaffer no-nonsense then I am paying way too much for the pens I am buying... :(

So where can i get a Lamy Safari Matte Black cheaper than Amazon?

Inder,

That's an okay price if it includes a convertor and you can get the nib size you want.

Alternatively, if you wait a bit, I will get you one for GBP 11.60 + GBP 3.33 for the convertor. After bank charges it will work out to 1700 odd but it would include a convertor and your choice of nib.

I'll take care of shipping because I will also be ordering some stationery for myself. If you add anything more, you will have to bear half the shipping.
