Achtung!!! = Attention in German :D
When I looked at the Rudi Kellner it reminded me of a Sumo Wrestler :D
Fat & chunky...but there was something in its demeanor....an imposing presence that defied description....
End result....I had to buy it :D

Keeping up with German spirit (Beer :D ) I wrote these few lines which reminded of the ubiquitous BEER GARTENS that are so prominent there - Tall cool pitchers of the Bavarian Frothies served by buxsom barmaids :D :D :D

Regret that due to a slight accident to my right thumb, I am unable to form legible writing. Will still try over the weekend to send my entry. It'll be rather like the Indian football team at the World Cup, I am afraid!

Kshitij, where did you get the Lamy 1.5? William Penn?
Cheers!

SD, yup the Lamy 1.5 was from william penn. Got the medium, broad and 1.5, plan to get the 1.1 and 1.9 and round it out.
With regards to your writing, i am more interested in seeing your calligraphy script.

Hi Mack,
This could be 'prophetic' :D
The bug has bitten....as I'm tempted to try my hand at 'calligraphy' :D
Just came across Luxor offering calligraphic pens at very affordable prices!
Add to this....Flipkart offering 'Calligraphy Inks' to boot :D

What I liked about the 'Submarine' was its sleek all black finish...with its cap embedded with tiny crystals (like diamonds) & the top with a single crystal...
Another feature was the "CROSS" type mechanism to bring out the tip....

Ha Brihaji, that so and so got me going too.

I saw this calligraphy set and decided to pick it up. I will post some samples with the various nibs, later.
These are made in the UK by The Manuscript Pen Company Ltd
Nib thicknesses are 2.5 mm, 2.2 mm (twin lines), 0.85 mm and 0.6 mm

@Mack, used your suggestion and converted the Luxor into an eye dropper. Guess being into knives and airguns helps as there is alwayssilicone grease and O rings around :P
The thing works perfectly, no leaks-no skipping, perfect.

@brihaji, go for the calligraphy set, you will enjoy every bit of it. The line variations that the italic nibs produce make writing with them a joy. Coming to think of it, maybe that is why lamy calls their calligraphy pen, Joy :D

@xl_target, looking forward to the writing samples with the differnt nibs and also a quick comparison beetween the manuscript and the sheaffer calligraphy set, if its not too much trouble.

Mack The Knife wrote:How about a few Sheaffer No Nonsense fountain pens? How I yearned for them in school....
Mack,

I am amazed at the tremendous response generated by your seemingly innocuous questions. Pens galore have sprung up from the long treasured collections of our esteemed fellow members. The arts of calligraphy and penmanship are alive and flourishing in the shooting fraternity.

I am tempted to hunt for my trusty old Parker 21 that I bought from a school friend for the princely sum of Rs. 20 in the nineteen-sixties. I would also like your opinion on a Sheaffer No Nonsense fountain pen from the nineteen seventies or eighties, with a choice of medium or fine nibs, that I have been offered for Rs 500, with an additional Rs. 200 for a squeeze type converter. This is part of a new old stock the seller has on offer in Mumbai. As I am in Dehradun, I will have to go by the name alone and order by mail without the option of trying it out.

Should I go ahead or will I be better served by a new Parker Vector fountain pen for around the same price?

Regards.

Brihacharan: That is a nice Staedtler set you have there. What size lead does the pencil use?
Not many know this but Staedtler is wholly owned by the non-profit Staedtler Foundation that promotes scientific research at German polytechnics and universities. Longfellow's poem is a particular favourite of mine and the limerick had me in splits and has been duly copied in my notebook.
I was surprised to see that bottle of Cretacolor ink, as I did not know they had a presence in India. Looking forward to your calligraphic submissions and a few more limericks, pretty please.

Essdee'72: Looking forward to your first of many entries. This would also be a good time for you to photograph your pens and post them here.

xl_target: LOL @ "that so and so got me going too." You are referring to Kshitij, right?
I have seen seen various sets from Manuscript on the net but I do not recall seeing this one before.
Enjoy!

Kshitij: Better correct 'silica gel' to silicone grease or someone may end up grinding his threads with silica gel crystals. LOL.
Glad the Luxor is working well now.

Miroflex: Do search out your Parker 21 and post some pics of it here. http://parkerpens.net/parker21.html
Rs.500.00 for a No Nonsense is way too much. Please contact Mr. Subramaniam at http://asapens.in/eshop/ and request him to source you one along with a convertor. If his quote is also high, let me know and I will send you one of mine.

For those interested in calligraphy, consider the Pilot Parallel Pen sets.

They are available in India.

Nice hand Mack, and appropriate ink colour as well :) red ink always brings back memories from school, some not so pleasant ;)

One of my closest friend's from school days is also a die hard fountain pen addict, in fact I picked up fountain pen after eons (some years back) under his influence. He favours a violet/ purple ink for daily use, which apparently isn't available too often. Will ask him details next time we meet.

Yeah, yeah....Diamine specially formulated that one for grumpy old dragons like me. :P

You are full of surprises....first you pop in here and now you say that you have been using fountain pens again for the past few years. Let's see them.

Bril (Bangalore company) still makes a violet ink. Chelpark closed down and i am not sure if Camel/Camlin make a violet/purple ink. He may also be using an imported ink or may be mixing inks.

Send him a link to this thread and get him on board.

Moin,

I find the Indian pens very appealing and interesting. What price range are they in and what nibs are they fitted with? Are spare nibs available? Many of us would welcome a write-up on pens being made in India.
