You are a brave man Zaheer and a good shot with the rifle. Thats all I am looking for in a team mate.
As for your shooting skills with the camera. We already have Mansoor.

But seriously guys.
This was the first hunt where I did not pose with the dead leopard.
I do understand that saving a life is better than taking one. But at times one has to do it. And we, as a team choose to do that dirty job.

Please take it positively. When a job needs to be done it should be done well. You guys have done it wonderfully.

Wonderful narration and thanks for sharing this experience. I had thought the last of the man eater stories would be over with the Corbett era but always glad to read your stories.

Though ironically, I pray there are less and less opportunities for them.

Cheers,
SS

No one prays more for that than those who get to do the more and more often thankless task these days.
It pains to see jungles denuded of its denizens, humans moving further and further deeper inside jungles and clearing away the trees for fields and hutments

Amazing narration and photos, Prashant and company.
Very descriptive and thoroughly enjoyable.
Thank you.

A picture of the home made mannequins used to drive away the maneaters. Although how a humans form would scare a maneater is beyond me.

That clip from the movie is hillarious Safarigent.
Honestly. Had I actually seen the spot before sending you guys to retrieve that dead goat. I would not have sent the two of you. It was way too risky. A learning experience for the future.

Added in 38 minutes 37 seconds:
When I came across this picture what struck me was the impression I got, of strength, agility, fearlessness and the sheer physical beauty of this much admired, feared & misunderstood feline....

I have been fortunate to see them in the wild, but for a split second darting from cover to cover like greased lightening!

However the look on its face (in this picture) seemed to convey an "Angst" as it is walking away, which to me sounded something like this......
Image

Get off my land
Let me be free,

So I can hunt for food
To feed by cubs three,

The trees and bushes are gone
Where my prey lived & bred,

Now its sustenance & survival
Leaving me no choice nor chance,

I have no choice but sneak into your domain
That was rightfully once mine,

To whom shall I go & cry my woe
Shame on you to snare & hunt me down!
