Re: .30 bore pistol
Read Schedule I of the Arms Rules 1962. https://www.indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1474
The list of restricted calibres is a negative list, anything not specifically listed there is a permitted calibre. Thus far there has been no inclusion (in that list) of any type of .30 calibre handgun cartridge.
On the other hand, if the handgun in question has been purchased from the government at a discounted price (say under NSP from Army etc.), then you may have a problem purchasing the same - as the government has placed restrictions on re-sale of such arms, due to rampant profiteering by the original allotees.
Regards,
Abhijeet

It seems as if almost all the district licensing branches have their own set of rules. .30 cal. pistol is allowed in our district (Fazilka, Punjab) but have heard that some districts doesn't allow it.
Its better to enquire with your licensing branch.

Sorry I may be off topic but I wanted clarification on that issue, if the weapon is bought at a discounted price from a government agency there would be a restriction on sale of the weapon. But if the owner gets sale permission for some extra ordinary reason like the weapon is defective and beyond economical repair, will the purchaser of the weapon have any issue in buying such a weapon??
