Hi All,
A few days back, I was watching a documentary on the net about the various weapons used by Viking raiders. It revealed that the axe in its various forms, played a key role not only as an effective primary or secondary weapon but also as a versatile tool being used on land as well at sea. and every Viking carried at least 1 axe on his person, at all times.
This was enough to precipitate my DIY itch , and I zeroed in on the short bearded raiding axe as my first attempt at Viking weaponry..! I had a spare 1kg axe head from the local 'lohaar' laying around and after a few quick cuts from the grinder, some sanding and fitting a shaped wooden handle, this was the result:

Looks quite formidable
Nice shape / profile of both head & handle
How long is it & how much does it weigh?

Briha sir, Its a compact tomahawk like axe, with overall length being just over a foot. The head should be around 800-850gms. Its function relies more on edge sharpness rather than the weight of its head, as in conventional axes.brihacharan wrote:Looks quite formidable
