Makarov 9 X 18 is PB or NPB in India?
Hi,
I have a Baikal , Model: MP-442 Calibre: 9mm Makarov (9x18) .Is it PB is India and How pricy /availability would be the ammunition for centre fire pistol shooting practice in Gurgaon/Delh? I am a new member so curious to know lot of stuff on handguns.
Thanks,

Hi Folks,
I guess I didn't do what I should have done. Introductions. I am a Calgarian from Canada and plan to spend couple of months in India. I plan to improve my shooting skills while I am here and will be relying on a .22 (LR ) and if permissible a Makarov as posted already. Is there any restriction on the number/bore of handgun a bonafide tourist can bring with him.I will be getting a temporary export license from my country. Also are there any open shooting championships in Delhi/Haryana around this time of the year.I am looking to prepare for centre fire pistol events.
Thanks,

Check the link in the legal section.

The Arms Act clearly mentions what is PB and what is NPB. 9X19 is a service cartridge. It is PB. 9X18 is not. It is NPB.

it will be pointless for you to bring the handgun with you unless you have a Indian licence in place already. otherwise the customs will keep it for you until you leave. most competition take place after the rains

Thanks,
Export license is fine, the issue is the import license (into India) - big hassles and conditions (from what I have read on IFG)! You should be participating in a competition and bring your gun and ammo with you for that specific purpose and take it back once done. Lots of paperwork. Articles on IFG available for perusal.
Why not come in and enjoy with borrowed arms and ammo in India? Simplest route in my opinion. Welcome again!
Now I leave it to God or Vineet to add information...just kidding!
