Natural Woodstock for My PRECIHOLE - NX100
Natural Woodstock for My PRECIHOLE - NX100
Ever since I acquired my PRECIHOLE NX100 I wanted a wooden stock for it. The best I could do then was to get the original synthetic stock a ‘wood finish’ coating (Pictures of this was posted earlier).
However the lingering ‘wish fulfillment’ took place last fortnight when I took the risk to requisition the services of a friendly neighborhood carpenter to make one for me.
My joy knew no bounds when I saw the stock when it arrived – the profile, length of pull, the contours and the fit was perfect. However when I fitted the action and tried to cock the action, the barrel wouldn’t move beyond a certain point – meaning the gun’s piston sear & trigger sear would not engage.
The disappointment was severely palpable & I almost wept and to add to this woe another attempt at cocking resulted in the breaking of the 1.5cms plastic slide on cocking lever. I panicked and made an emergency call to PRECIHOLE.
While I got a prompt replacement of the slide, I was told that the inletting in the stock was a precision job that could only be done by a CNC machine and the process would cost me a small fortune.
But then a ‘Miracle’ happened when last Sunday our “Blade Wizard” IFGian Pratik dropped in at my place along with IFGian Kshitij – I showed Pratik the stock & told him my tale of woe! Leave the stock with me for a couple of days he said & I’ll see what can be done with it.
The very next day Pratik called to say – Brihaji your stock is ‘fixed’ – on hearing this I literally jumped out of my chair – Pratik the ‘Genius’ had done it!!! When I asked him what magic he had done – he casually said – Oh nothing much – just stuck a bit of wood & sanded it to the precise angle at the location where the cocking lever’s joint took its bend!!!!
If this isn’t the height of innovation, frankly I don’t know what is?
Thank you PRATIK for helping me to realize my dream!

The wooden stock seems to be a very well crafted job. Congrats to the carpenter on a job extremely well done and to you too Sir for all the guidance you would have imparted to him

Dear Briha,
You have an wonderful knack to offer something or the other , new to us.
This is made with superb precision of craftsmanship.
The fibres came perfect.
Yet I wish to know what is the difference you noticed during shooting in terms of feel.

There is of-course a palpable difference between the synthetic stock & the wood stock....Basu wrote:Dear Briha,

1. The feel when shouldered is different
2. The sound resonance after firing is also different
3. The weight however between the two is nothing to write home about
4. Accuracy - no difference at all - consistent 1/2" groups at 20yds
Finally the sensory appeal of the "Wood Stock" scores head & shoulders over the "Synthetic" one (my 2 cents )
Now take a "LOOK"

Congratulations! It looks awesome The feel of a woodstock rifle is amazing
Birhaji one question since you know the management of the Precihole team - are they going to be coming out with any woodstock rilfes in the future?

Congrats Briha! Looks beefier than the stock stock. Would love to have one made without that cheek thing.

Briha ji, one question. What is it in the muzzle of the barrel, a muzzle weight? It looks so different than a standard Precihole muzzle weight.
