Dear Ron,
Any direct trigger will move sideways till it is engaged.
It happens to my all guns and at times it may rub the wood as well.So do not invest much thought into it.

Basu, thanks for the reply. I was asked this because the trigger was poking out from its packing, plus the gun stock was damaged in transit, but Kovibazar have agreed to replace it.

Thanks for asking the question. I definitely need some help here as the Gun is not at all accurate

Today I mounted it on the damaged stock itself and took it for a test ride.

The gun is heavy and has a very noticeable recoil for an air gun. I fired a few shots with the supplied pellets (Master Shot Pointed, KoviBazar freebies). Here is a pic with the results

Image

I was trying to zero the sights (shooting gun rested on a bench from 6yards!!), but couldn't do it and gave up. Almost all the shots were to the right and above the target. It was like barrel had no rifling! Again it could be my fault (I am a beginner) or the pellets.

I am almost depressed at the gun's performance as I had high hopes after reading such good reviews here by experienced members

Hah hah ha........
Do'nt be upset so early. It will consume atleast 2000 pellets before you start understanding an AR.
benne had prescribed some pellets by name which suits quite well with SDB65 , you can try them also.

do you think the damaged stock may be causing the accuracy problem? It's damaged in such a way that I am able to fix the screw on one side (right) only.

There are two side screws on either sides of the front part of the butt.
If any of these screws are loose by just half turn , the gun will shoot every where except the centre.
This is my experience with ARs.
Any new springer takes at least 1000 shots to settle.

Pl.do not over tight the screws but tight enough so that it does not unscrew.
I donot find any reason that grouping should be so wide....other than this or improper loose pellet size.

Hi,

I fixed the gun to the new stock (which arrived yesterday). But the accuracy problem has not been solved, though it has improved slightly.

On closer inspection of the rifling I found this:

Image

Note the circular groove / crack towards the front. That's the muzzle end of the barrel.

Could this be the problem, or is it normal :(

It is very difficult to say any thing about good or bad or defective rifling.
All I know that most Kolkata made guns are having 1: 16 twist rate.
It is adviced to contact an experienced shooter, who can guide you properly.

This is about 0.5 inches from the muzzle. I have checked it with a piece of stiff nylon line, its definitely a groove! :(

Should I contact KoviBazar and perhaps ask for a replacement?

Existence of such round groove is very strange.
It must be a manufactuing defect.
Pl.ask kovibazar to give you a replacement and they must take it appropreiately with sole manufacturer.

The circular grove near the muzzle is giving you not so enviable groups, neither did the bespoke pellets you tried helped.

IMO Its more of a crack than a groove, the thickness is uneven.

My logic is that since that is the last part of the barrel through which the pellet must pass, this irregularity is causing the pellet to wobble and hence lose accuracy.

I have emailed kovi, let's see how they respond.
