Now, I have given it a proper place

Don't leave it in the open like that especially in a coastal city like Chennai, unless you intend to check it everyday. Even if you leave it like that even with a coat of oil for two weeks it would rust. Also while it looks great on a wall, a gun should be kept in a secure place like a locked gun cabinet out of reach of anybody except the shooter.
