Re: scuba tanks for pcp
Andy,
Do you want a scuba tank specifically. If not then you could use CNG tanks that can withstand these pressures. The Automobile CNG tanks normally come with a capacity of 7 ltr to 14 ltr.
New tanks are expensive as quoted by your dealer in Bhopal but you can get a used one in the price range starting at about Rs 8000 (or maybe less). If you are interested I could find out about it, as I have been in the automobile field all through.
Regards

Re: scuba tanks for pcp
Andy,
Please confirm the tank capacity and I will spread the word around for that size tank. I should then be able to confirm the price and availability.
But I am not sure, if that is allowed on this forum as it may amount to 'trying to sell'. And I can't post it on the 'FREE classified section" as I have nothing to sell.
Maybe the moderators/ administrators could clarify.

.
Back to the SCBA tanks, 6 Ltr ones are most practical for field and home purpose, if you want to shell the extra dough 9tlrs are great too.
Steel is good and CF are great as they would be 1/3rd the weight of steel tanks and much more more safer than the CF tanks. Steel tanks have to he hydrotested every year and is an aspect which most people I have seen around seem to neglect. Trust me, that like a ticking bomb when you don't follow the safety guidelines. As striker mentioned there is no harm is buying refurbished tanks, works out cheaper, just ensure you get the latest hydrotest report with the tank and keep doing the tests every year you plan to use and the end life would be printed on the tank too(have that and the manufacturing dates checked). CF tanks take precedence here as they just need to be hydrotested every 5 years and they don't explode on failure like steel tanks, they rupture. It would be an awe full experience even then, but with the steel tanks the failure would be a catastrophe. Google up and see some images of steel tanks failure. The failure rate is very low compared to the number of tanks but why be in that minority report. Have used and sold both. Am now on 9ltr CF tanks, they are pricy, but aint life worth it...

Well it looks like andy is on the lookout for a 300 bar tank and most cng tanks are rated 200 bar. I could be wrong with what my search search came up. And even if they were rated 200 bar you would need to look at the fittings and mobility for those larger tanks. Larger volume will help you top up pcp's like the discovery, marauder and many more rated to 200 bar. It would not help you with most of the the FX, Daystates, Diana's and most of the newer pcp's . How are you gonna be mobile with those heavy tanks especially the 14L ones or higher ? Are you gonna fill ure units with a compressor which you have at home, at the club or an outlet who has a compressor? Will they fill cnc tanks with plain air to 200 bar ? Also check the technical sheet for anything we may have not overlooked. SCBA tanks have been in the industry and have been used for paintball and to fill airguns for a real long time now. I am not saying cnc is a no go, just study it carefully as I have never come across anyone using it or mentioning it. Could be a breakthrough too, never know. Safety first.aadhaulya wrote:Andy,

As per DOT specifications,a steel or Aluminium cylinder requires Requalification every 5 years. CGA allows for their reuse indefinitely as long as they continue to pass their Hydrostatic & visual inspection every 5 years.
Recently I bought a used 6 lit 300 bar SCBA bottle in steel from a Mumbai based Dealer who got it Hydrotested & certified on my name.A DIN charging kit from PCP Tunes made my charging jig complete.
