Re: I've been here a while now...
That`s a good trick Vikram. Have you noticed that the `Who is online` box at left doesn`t ackowledge your existence even though you are posting at this moment ?

This site (IFG) is so cool
Hi Friends,
I am Bhargav from Mumbai, India. Currently i am in Los Angeles, US since past 3 yrs.
I have fired almost all semi auto pistols and i take part in the high power Rifle competition where i fire the M1 Garand 30-06 30 caliber with metal sites.
I bumped across this site and guys this site is so cool , i feel good to hear that even civilians can acquire firearms in India. So far i was just under the impression that they are forbidden .
So where can i find the rules and regulations of keeping firearms in India and what is the documentation needed ??
Thanks All.
Bhargav

Re: First time on this forum, this site is so cool
well yes i did visit that info and like they say .. "Padh ke bada dukh hua." .. what do they mean by asking questions like why do you need a gun ??
and in one of the post i even read that in Delhi if we specify the reason as "Self security" then we do not get the permit .. what bulls**t is this . and i am sorry i don't mean to hurt anybody who stays in Delhi but ... Delhi is the city with highest number of crimes in India..

Bhargav,
A couple of years back, the Commissioner of Police - Delhi, had given a statement in the Times of India, to the effect that there are only 55,000 licensed firearms in the city. Furthermore he stated that this figure constitutes less than 20% of the total firearms in Delhi, and that the vast bulk (over 80%) are illegal unlicensed firearms!
This in the capital city, which is supposed to have a relatively more effective police force - highest no. of police personnel (per capita), better equipment etc., so one can only imagine what the figures for the "badlands" of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are like
He also admitted that licensed firearms are involved in a statistically insignificant number of firearm related crimes... Duh!!
It is indeed a sad state of affairs, which is one major reason why many of us at IFG have thought it best to take this group to the next level by incorporating as a non-profit "society", to effectively lobby for a change in the current laws. While the IFG forum has been a great place for all of us to meet and discuss many things, if we are to change anything, we will have to take this fight off the net and into the real world...
Cheers!

Bhargav,
Good to see you here. Yes, this is a group of gun enthusiasts of Indian origin living in India or outside with some very good supporters from other countries who are not of Indian origin but have joined together to help us with moral support.
Keep posting - many very good friendships have been formed here and I am sure many more will be in the years to come. A shooter and gun enthusiast will always be welcome.

i want to sue IFG.
i want to sue IFG.
ever since i have been a member, a can of gasoline has been poured over my burning passion for guns/ shooting/hunting.
i am logged in around 8 hours a day 5-6 days a week. dont think about anything else.
my frnds have been complaining about me being online but not replying tho their pm,s / emails.
i think bout the forum all day and night, awake and asleep.
i have recommended the website to justabout anyone who cares to talk to me.
im sure a few members are tired of my constant stream of never ending questions and enquiries.
if there is anything new that i learn about/ hear about here ( and thats almost everything) i read about it elsewhere.
if the internet is down, i go to a cafe to check my posts.
i never did that with my job applications.
i think moderators should have warned us about it in a formal warning message.
i think it is negligence on their part, never to have discussed this in a post.
is there someone else who has been 'wronged' thus by the IFG?
mods- if you think appropriate, plz put this in the humour section
cheers.
