My SAMURAI 3G gets a New Stock!!!
My SAMURAI 3G gets a New Stock!!!
It’s verily said that “One Good Turn Deserves Another”….It couldn’t have been truer when it happened to me!
My wife & I were out last week shopping for our weekly groceries, when I felt a light tap on my shoulder…
Turning around I saw this guy smile & say “How are you Sir…remember me?
I weakly said…your face looks familiar…but sorry…can’t place you!
Oh! He said, it’s been a long time …I’m ‘JIVRAJ’ the carpenter …to whom you gave a job when I was desperately in need of work. Fortunately I’m well settled now with my own workshop…
By the way, I’m shortly off to the Gulf on a 3 year contract …. Sir, can I do something for you before I leave?
I was stumped by his offer…however I thought I’ll take his bait!!!
I said can you make a nice stock for my Air Rifle? His face broke into an ‘Ear to Ear’ smile when he said ‘it’ll be a pleasure’….show me your gun…
He dropped in a couple of days later & saw the SAMURAI ….the following week he came & handed me his creation – made out of ‘Malaysian Teak’!!!
Needless to say, he wouldn’t accept any money, so I bought him a fancy embroidered shirt …
Well I think with that kind of a deal, we were “Even Stevens” now!!!
PS:
1.I deliberately did not smooth sand the stock, as I prefer the feel of grainy wood texture when I shoulder the AR to shoot….The ‘Macho Feel’!
2.Also I wanted the look & feel of ‘Mahogany’ – hence while oiling the stock I added 10ml of Mahogany tint to oil mix!
3.Finally sprayed a thin coat of clear acrylic / matte finish.

Wow !!
Very very decent look....
Since you kept it grainy wood...it should be good to hold.
Wish to see recent groupings so as to acertain the real effect on performance.

Brihi ji,
Lovely is an understatement. That carpenter is one guy with great dignity.....a real gentleman.
Would have preferred a RWS 34 finish in the front, but that's a matter of personal taste.
BTW we all have work for the carpenter once he is back after 3 years .

Brihaji - Congratulation on the upgrade.
Indeed a great possession.
The raw & grainy finish on the stock really gives the expected macho look.
Had 'JIVRAJ' had decided to tap your shoulder a few months before, even your Precihole AR would have got the luck to get a new butt.

Herb
Hats off to your premise & perception
The weight now is a tad more than with the previous stock...
However it feels well balanced...especially with the 'artillery hold'
One noticeable point is that 'the fit between the action & stock is snug & true!!!
