hi all,
Just completed work on this blade based on a Jap clip-point Tanto ,...really liked the narrow spike profile of the blade and have tried to replicate the same here using tool grade steel from a chisel ..!
Its a tapered full tang blade with wood and epoxy grip.
feedbacks/suggestions are most welcome..!

Very very nicely executed job, the blade shape, profile, file work, handle...Blades classic Japo Tanto like the CRKT HIssatsu.. How's the point, did you manage to retian the sharp point while sharpeneing it ?

Do you do any heat treating on the metal before working on it?
Like annealing, tempering & quenching
Because I find very hard to give such kind of finish on hard metal

@Moin- I had CRKT Hissatsu and Cold Steel Tokyo Spike In mind for the blade shape. kept the spine relatively thick with a shallow bevel at the tip to strengthen the point. guess that worked out ok.
@Briha Sir- nothing special about the tool steel. I just used a standard woodwork chisel. Though its tempered ( around HRC 58-60), the steel is malleable enough to be worked with basic power and hand tools. I just Used an angle grinder: cutoff wheel for the basic shape and sanding wheels from 80 - 400 for fine tuning. Finished off with a coarse sponge buffing wheel (red) and hand filing.
@Pratik- no additional tempering or heat job over the original from the manufacturer (HRC 58-60). sanding and buffing the surface works fine. Though I have had finishing issues while working with stainless steel.
