Firing Line

Post by Hunter » Sun Jul 01, 2007 7:18 pm

Hi all,

I was supposed to post this quite a while back, but here they are nevertheless.
I did not include the group fired as it was an enormous 11inches-at 25 mts,you must all be holding your stomachs in laughter by now on hearing this!...but I have not really the time to practice on a regular basis.

I have also taken the liberty to include the pictures of my Gamo and both the Dianas-52/35.

Warm Regards...

Hi,

Isn't 0.45 calibre a PB? Is the ammo manufactured. I am sure a novice can dislocate his/her shoulder while shooting with one of those....

Nice pics and nice canon there Shooter. Is it in India or abroad?

It is a PB. But, it is possible to get a license for that. While the recoil is not mild, it is no way shoulder dislocating. You need to go way up to be seriously affected by the recoil.Say a 454 Casull or a .500 Linebaugh.

.45 ACP may not be a Prohibited Bore in Mumbai / Maharashtra.

Diskaon, Mark's son (who isn't even in his teens) shoots a .45 ACP. There's a pic of this somewhere on the forum.

Hi Dishkaon,
Like Mack The Knife mentioned the .45acp is an NP bore in Bombay! It got this status only a couple of years ago, thanks largely to a group of dedicated shooters who pushed for its release into the NP bore category. It is fairly expensive to shoot at about Rs 150 a round!

About the recoil , it is usually a straight back thrust into the hand with not too much of muzzle flip!,unlike the 9mm or 357 mag. In the picture , am using the isosceles hold which helps to tame the recoil somewhat.
The trick is to hold it firmly but not too tightly....you wont dislocate your shoulder then!

Now way , I've shot the .45 ACP and single hand grip and I am worse than a novice... Its a great pistol to shoot..

Shoot the .44 mag and then you'll know what recoil is...

Cheers

Hunter,

Nice pics,beautiful hand gun.

Since the .45 Cal is NPB in Mumbai or is it the entire state of Maharashtra, how much do they retail for.

Up North almost all PB fire arms are available at a throw away price,as a PB Lic is allmost impossible to get.

Cheers

Sanjay

Thanks Sanjay,

The Lic is for greater Bombay only! Permission is required to carry it out of the city but only upto the boundries of Maharashtra.

About the costs,I really cant tell but I heard it is in the region of 150-200k in Bombay-if u find one that is! Most of them are ex-Army stock, which I feel is all but dried up by now.

..take care

.45 ACP is a PB allover the country including Maharashtra.Only the Ministry of Home GOI is empowered to declare a firearm to be prohibited or non prohibited through a notification. How this has been done by the Maharashtra Minsitry of Home is beyond me.
