I have had exactly this problem. When I shoot I need glasses and with those glasses I get my best performance when the foresight is in sharp focus, even if the rear sight and target are slightly blurred. This situation occurs best with my longer barrelled SDB 65.slingshot wrote:This is just an observation and may be limited to me only. I have found that shorter barrels are difficult to shoot with the stock open sights at 10 meter if you are aiming at 6pm on the target. This may be because the distance between the rear sight and the front sight is too short. So, I had the option of trimming down the front sight with a saw or removing the rear sight completely and installing an expensive Williams diopter. I chose the diopter. But to each his own. Maybe this problem is faced only by me.

> Front sights are ideal for AR barrels of 15" & above as they provide good eye relief for perfect sight alignment....
> Short barrel versions are a novelty, compact & easy to carry while have no compromise in velocity....
> Again Peep Sights too are suitable for barrels of 15" & longer - better eye relief & better sight alignment....
> Finally open sights (V grooved or Peep) are ideal for targets up to 10 / 15 metres (33ft to 50ft approx) anything beyond Scopes are best suited as target visibility comes into question....
