The rats are going to be very sorry. :)

Thank you XL..... Last night, as I was standing in the balcony and having my last sips before dinner, I watched them crossing the road in battle formation. Seems they have an insider

Thank you so much Brhaji.... This beauty has been specifically shipped in for the rats.
Yes, they are big, they are a menace and they are taking over the human population.

First of all congrats on your new addiction. I would like to suggest to look for a night vision setup, then "pestamination" will be like a walk in the park, as then you wont have hassle to a shot. Merry Christmas n a prosperous & happy new year.

Thanks Moulindu,
A night vision is exactly what I need because my eyesight is not what it used to be once. I can't even see the foresight of a right in low light conditions during the day. Can't even dare to think about night  Since NVs cost an earth and are restricted items (possessing one can land me in jail) I am thinking of alternatives such as 50 mm lens/ laser dots /laser designators etc. Lets see.

Wish you a very happy new year

Congrats Moulindu. At this rate you may soon bag some contracts from the local civic body :D
Well I used a first generation NV once. Good for big targets. Getting a rat with open sights in street light or a torch is far more thrilling I feel. If at all I decide to go fancy I may get a laser designator and set it up with a scope or red dot. But open sights is the mantra right now. Don't get much time after work. Have fired only two pellets till now. The very first pellet made this rifle lucky for me. :D

Cheers

Kshirij and Basu Da,

I just didn't get time to post but here is a story I will remember for years.
After the rifle arrived on Christmas eve I had opened the pack to take photos for this post and packed it up again. I knew year-end would be hectic at office and there would be no time to play with my new toy.
On Saturday, at around noon, I was about to get dressed for office when I spotted a big fat fella gorging into the food I leave for the birds on the roof of my garage. His nonchalant attitude made furious and I ran for the room where the package was resting. I hurriedly untied the ropes, took the rifle out from its plastic cover, opened the precipell can (dropped half the pellets on the ground in the process) and cocked the rifle as fast as I could. The action was tight and coking effort seemed much more than what I had expected.
I ran back to the bedroom. The rat was about 15 mts away and still munching merrily. I glanced at the backsight and found it set at zero. With no time to waste I took aim... behind the ears and squeezed the trigger. NOTHING happened :o
"The safety. Damn I forgot", I cursed myself and pushed it forward. It was very tight but went off with a positive "CLICK"
I aimed again, standing and resting the forestock on my left palm.
My trigger finger moved and "thud"... I HAD NEVER SEEN A TRIGGER SO GOOD ON ANY AIR RIFLE that I could remember.
The rat jumped almost a feet in the air and rolled over. Had anyone told this story to me I might have thought he was making up. But it was happening right before my eyes and I stood there spellbound for a few seconds, still thinking about the trigger.
I gathered myself and went for the camera. The rat had rolled down the garage roof. It was lying still on the ground, at least ten inches form tip of nose to base of the tail. I zoomed in and found blood in its right ear. The pellet found its mark and apparently went through.

"What do you think you are doing, still in your towel and what's the rifle doing on my bed ?", the lady walked in, "are you immune to cold ? Won't you go to office?" ..... the questions barely went into my head.
"Honey this rifle is a keeper," I turned around with a wide smile and picked up my jeans :D

Wish you all a happy and happening 2015

TC,
Lucky you to get a perfect trigger right out of the box. Guess Precihole has addressed the one sore point the rifle had in my eyes.
As for the rifle itself, yes it is a keeper. I am spending more time shooting with it as compared to my other air rifle.
Have got a moderator to go with the rifle so now there is no loud noise when it is shot, just the subdued "thud" of the piston action.

That is a sizeable rodent you got there. Head shot-15 meters-open sights! Awesome shot!

May the new year bless you with many more such opportunities :D
