....with his back turned towards you.

This is especially aimed at Mark and Grumpy who like to stump us with teasers.

Hi Mack The Knife
just taking a guess Henry Cooper is all I can remember.
1963 at Wembley Stadium.
What were you doing there, if at all, or is it an old photo which he signed for you.
That was the first time Ali was knocked down, He went on to win that fight.

Got it in one, Lenny! Have a cigar! (Buy your own)

It is indeed Sir 'Enry Cooper and it was his trademark left hook ('Enry's 'Ammer) that knocked the Louisville Lip down.

It's a photo that he has signed for me. I was born in '65. ;)

I have got another old pic (post card size) of Ali in Bombay. This is when I was in school - very early 80's.

Now that I have got the pics out of the loft, I will go through them in the coming month.

Just to ask , where was it autographed? in UK?
I am a great boxing fan, boxed for state in the early 70's,
so start getting senti when I see all those oldies.
Got one leg in the grave, being positive about it tho, born in 59 :D :D :D :D.
Thats why I have not being pestering you about my Diana 35.

Yes. Received it this morning in the post.

My brother sent it to me and I have no clue how and when he met Cooper. Must have been fairly recent though.

Well, here's how he got the pic...

"Hi Mack The Knife,

what u saw was the result of 'enry's 'ammer. Was at Milton Keynes last weekend and there was a gathering of all the old Brit sportsmen, wherein you could for a small buck do the autograph/ photograph bit. Off the boxers there was Henry Cooper and Frank Bruno. I met Cooper and got his autograph for you. I liked this pic the best as it was the famous Cooper left hook, probably the only one that he connected " hurting Ali's ancestors back in Africa !!! " . This was followed by a controversial delay in the time out when Angelo Dundee requested for a change of glove for Ali, allowing Ali enough time to recover and hammer the hell out of Cooper subsequently.

The other picures were of the same fight with Cooper covered in blood and mashed up.. thought this one was the most appropriate. Took me over 3 minutes to spell your name to the old man !!!!

Hope you liked it !!!"
