DIY handle and scabbard for a knife blank.
This was my first experience making a handle and scabbard for a knife blank.
I got the blank when I went on a trip to Udaipur.
I gave it to a friend as a birthday present.
The shield and crossed swords were my friend's design,so I thought it would be nice to customize it for him.
Sorry for the haphazard arrangement of the photos guys, I could not figure out how to align them properly.

Awesome job!
The blade blank, is it Damascus or does it just have the pattern etched on the surface.

Very nice! The sandwich sheath is awesome!
How did you do the design? By hand or laser?

Thank you Kshitij, I dont think the blank is anything special.
It was one of several knives that I got from Udaipur.
Cost me around Rs700 if I remember right.

Brihaji,
A privilege to hear your words of appreciation.
I did not have any colour with me then.
So I just applied three coats of Shellac.
Surprisingly, the sheath has still not fallen apart, considering the fact that I stuck it up with superglue.

I cut out the handle pieces and the sheath pieces by hand.
Cut the rough profile with a fretsaw and shaped them up with a rasp.

The pattern on the blade gives it character IMHO.

Sandwich sheath is a excellent idea. I had attempted to make a sheath for a small tanto and routing the sheath by hand with a dremel took hours and had to conduct trials on 2-3 pieces of wood to get the correct depth for a tight fit.

Wow, nice fixed blade knives, I would definitely want the one like it in my knife collection.
Can you tell me, what sought of material is the blade made of.
Thanks for sharing.
