TC da, can you post (or mail me separately) a few closeups of the handle of the machete? I have a similar machete by Tramontina, which I got off ebay. I am not happy with the wooden handle, even after I did some mods. I'll try making a new one. The handle shape of your machete looks interesting.

I was always fascinated by blades used by soldiers in war.... easy to manufacture, simple, yet tough tools.
The first blade that immediately catches my fancy is the M7 bayonet designed for the Colt M16 and supplied in bulk to Vietnam. I managed to procure one by Imperial which was the smallest supplier, BOC being the biggest. The Imperial bayonets incidentally had a solid tang while the others had cutaway sections. Posed this one with my own M16 ..... just for the effects.

The other blade I like for the obvious historical reasons are the AK 47 and AK 74 bayonets in their different configurations. The Chinese ones are too flashy in their Orange grips and scabbard, the Romanian and Bulgarian ones with wooden handles are Ugly, the Russian ones made in the 70s are too crude in finish. This one is a better looking Yugooslav Type II bayonet with matching serial number on grip and sheath. The blade steel is hard to sharpen but the edges are somewhat well finished.

Well the photography was excellent. Dark and brooding, reminiscent of a cold war era spy thriller.
However, that's not what got my attention.... Show us the rest of the M16

XL, thanks you so much for the kind words... wanted to create something without using too many props such as cartridges, empties, belts, accessories etc.
Feels great to know you liked the effort.

As far as the M16 is concerned I have to post a new thread and show not just the M16 but all the military issue and prohibited bore guns I have

Durga Puja is just a week from now. Have some holidays lined up. Will do the needful then.

Good one! TC surely has some serious droolworthy stuff in his closet!

I must mention here TC that a friend from the Philippines gifted me a machete very similar to yours (tang, handle etc) with the exact same WWII inscription i.e. Legitimus Collins and date (the shape of the blade was slightly different). Beautiful, original, condition, battleworn and maybe with some scary stories to tell - if it could talk! Unfortunately, I lost that blade to an un-natural calamity and do not have pictures at hand to post
