Briha how well do these sights cope with springer vibration? It is staying in place?

Hi bennedose,
> I have till date shot only around 50 pellets over the last weekend, using two different ARs...(Samurai & Turboshot)
> Both are springers whose internals are precisely machined & assembled...hence I presume that the 'quantum' of vibration will be minimal as compared to any out of the box ARs....nevertheless vibrations do occur that are endemic to SPINGERS!!!
> As you can see from my earlier post wherein I have posted the internals of a Red Dot Sight - the construction of its internal elements are less complicated than that of an AR rated scope...
> There are no reticules or assembly of lenses - the Red Dot is only a reflection from an internal LED source on to the mirrored surface within...
> The fore & aft lenses are fixed & as such do not provide any palpable magnification....
> Taking all this into consideration I hope / presume that the Red Dot Sight should comfortably withstand any form of vibrations from the AR on which its mounted....
> Maybe another 200 shots will reveal the true picture....."Stay Tuned" :D

Congrats on your latest piece.
We finally get to see the results of your experiment.
You must've really enjoyed the novelty factor of the Red Dot.
How about trying out the GSmith Hi-Impacts next time ?
Thanks Lucky Luke :D
All my 3 ARs (IHP35 0.22cal aka Samurai), Turboshot 0.22 cal (Custom built by the late Tirtha) & Orion NX 100 with Nitro Piston show preference to GSmith pellets....maybe because of their quality & design, although they weigh 19gr approx.
Coming weekend I plan to shoot with GSmith Hi-Impact pellets....Stay Tuned :D
Yes, the novelty factor definitely has a role to play when using the Red Dot Sight...

Sometimes if you want to get rid of the gun, you have to pick the gun up.

The GSmith Hi-Impacts as expected have the tightest grouping.
I really like these pellets provided ofcourse that they are from the same batch / die.
A nice interesting series of testing Briha Garu - next on your list should be a test doubling the distance.
Till what distance is using the Red Dot feasible ?

Hi Lucky Luke,
> Thanks for your appreciation :D
> Your queries set me on a search path & here's what I came across some experiences that have something nice to say about Red Dot Sights in general....

Red Dot sights - Proper use and range of effectiveness
www.xdtalk.com › ... › Long Gun Talk › AR Talk

A good reflex red dot sight will be much more accurate and faster to shoot that iron sights. When one shoots with iron sights, the focus is on the front sight, the target blurs, the rear peep is very blurred, and tunnel vision occurs. When the target is a threat to you, the natural tendency is to focus on the target and the front sight is blurred, impairing accuracy. Usually the off eye is squinted with a grimace on the shooter's face. If you get out of alignment with the peep which is easy to do when concentrating on the front sight, you will have parallax problems.

When you get past 40 years, the target gets even more blurred when you focus on the front sight. Also, squinting cuts down on the total available light hitting your retina, so as you get older you will probably want to shoot with both eyes wide open.

The red dot solves these problems by allowing you to focus on both the red dot and target at the same time. The eye is not strained by switching from the target to the dot. The red dot follows your eye placement/cheek weld, eliminating parallax problems. Both eyes are wide open allowing maximum light and permitting good peripheral vision. The shooters face is relaxed allowing a longer hold/aiming time.

Many have opined arising out of their personal experiences that a good Red Dot Sight can be effectively used up to a maximum of 100 yards, though in my considered opinion (I'm yet to try out) a 50 yard limit (150 ft) can be expected.

I would venture to say that if one owns 3 ARs...
* One could be fitted with a fixed 4 x scope
* Second one could be fitted with a variable 3-9 / 4-12 x 40 scope
* Third one could have a Red Dot Sight
This way one can compare the efficacy & effectiveness of these three & use the one most suited to the occasion :D
After all we gun lovers shoot to enjoy the experience - am I right???
Cheers
Briha

The joy of shooting with both eyes open was awsom. Looking soda can reacting with pellets while you are enjoying full view of target and its back grounds was another experience.
