HK VP9 , HK's new striker fired pistol
California recently blocked the single shot exemption (SSE) route for civilians, which was one of the easier ways to get out of roster handguns for civilians.
The law will be enforced on 1/1/2015, so there is a rush for acquiring the top pistols by Californians.
One of the top candidates is the HK's new VP9, which suppose to have the best trigger in all striker fired guns.
•Caliber: 9mx19, aka 9mm Parabellum/Luger/NATO
•Browning recoil operated
•Striker fired
•15+1 capacity where legal, 10 round magazines available
•Barrel Length: 4.09 inches
•Sight radius: 6.38 inches
•Weight w/empty mag: 26.56 oz
•Weight, loaded: 32 oz
•Trigger pull: Factory stated 5.4 pounds, measured at 4.25 pounds
•Interchangeable grip panels: out the yinyang

Very simply, Commiefornia's gun laws suck.
I've been there once and I was not impressed enough to go back. Way too many people.
A nice place for a short visit but I would find it impossible to live there.

Right! Some more Californication - somewhat similar to current Canadian Gun Laws - hello cousins/neighbours (sorry, neighbors)!
When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns!

Good news, I just put one in jail (that's California 10 day wait period). The trigger seemed very crisp, more on it shortly.

Soul, please tell us about your experience when you've had a chance to handle or shoot your HK.
I've seen some beautiful places in California, and there are some with very few people. Along the border with Nevada, there are really nice places, if you like the desert (which I do).
There's no question about their gun laws -- they are very bad.xl_target wrote:Very simply, Commiefornia's gun laws suck.

Certainly, the wait will be over soon just over a week to go.
Regarding gun laws California sucks, there seems to be competition from the legislature to come up with most absurd laws taking advantage of general sentiments than raw facts. Unfortunately, most Indians here forget that once we give up the right it is not coming back (remember British rule?). Its not funny when people forget personal defense cannot be outsourced to others. Hope to take as much as my friends here to the range and get them educated about guns, safe handling practices.
But apart from the laws, it is naturally blessed like many places in the US. Great weather all year round, and tons of trails, camping areas from desert to lush green mountains.

Yes. When you burn powder inside a closed vessel (the barrel), and create friction by pushing a tightly fitting bullet down the bore, things will get hot. Should not come as a surprise to anyone. Or does it surprise anyone that your tea kettle gets hot when put on the burner? That's why early machine guns were water cooled.farook wrote:Anyone has info on the heating issue...

Farook: The reason he mentions the heat issue is to show that the pistol, though almost too hot to hold, still functions flawlessly.

Re: HK VP9 , HK's new striker fired pistol
I am a big fan of HK rifles Mr. Two Rivers. If I were to buy only one rifle without the option of a second one it would be the HK 762 http://hk-usa.com/hk-models/mr762a1lrp/
Their P30 though expensive got very good reviews from just about every user.
Hks are known for their built quality and finish all of this always comes at a price. The bottom line is with this one HK got it wrong. They went for the price and went wrong with the built, bore axis and finish. Walter ppq m2 may be a better option.
Have you shot either of these. Can we have your personal opinion.
