Hi Rahul,
I hope this is the Knife you have in mind.....
The price quoted by amazon appears reasonable since I acquired a similar blade 3 years back at Rs.2750/ from Bansons - Mumbai....(see my earlier post)

Rahul, since you are in Mumbai try Banson's, M Saleh, or the other gun shops around Crawford Market.

I got my Muela from M Saleh about 4 years back, cost me 2.5 K approx. Hardly used. The shape is too aggressive to take out.

Muelas are anyway not supposed to be all that great. You can also save up for a Becker or similar.
Cheers!

Hey bro.. don't go for costly muela knives, none of them are full tang. I would rather suggest you to go for MTech fixed blade knives. They are available in India through cart2india.com and Mtech have a huge range of full tang tactical fixed blade knives and less costlier compared to muela.

Wow man! Those are sweet!

1700 looks like a decent price for a Muela.
Cheers!

Hi Rahul, I own a similar Muela knife which I picked up at a camping/hiking store in Mumbai (the name of which misses me now but the store is at Phoenix Mills mall, so if that is any help). I bought it for nearly the same price (Rs 4,800/-, decent leather sheath). It was the last piece when I bought it, and it is of a sturdy built. Though you will be a little disappointed by the packaging -- it comes in a flimsy box with no literature on or in it, but since then I have researched a bit about Muela and the general consensus is that they are a respected Italian knifemaker.

I also have the smaller Muela knife which you have attached (around 1,800/- though with a different handle and a solid plastic sheath). I took it to a trip to Himachal last year, and I literally cut out the sole of my military shoe (because I wanted to retain the steel tip), without much effort -- and the edge has retained fine!

So overall, the build quality is excellent on these knives.

Cheers! :)

I have decided to visit M. Saleh before making this purchase
Spoke wd him on phone and they said they stock Muela so I guess I will have more choices
A friend has the smaller one u mentioned which we normally use on camping trips to cut n dress chicken
If I get the bigger one in 4k range, i'm going to buy it

Shubho I got my MTech boot knife and gold folder... check the pix I uploaded n lemme know if u like them :D

The shop in Phoenix is probably Basecamp, right Caracass?

They have another store in Korum Mall, Thane. They have Muelas and some other Spanish company, whose name slips my mind. And they also store the Victorinox range of knives, travel/outdoors gear, and luggage. Also they are the distributors of Katadyn and several outdoors companies in India. They also have the tiny travel packs of toothpaste, shampoo, etc. Good place for a newbie traveller / hiker / camper with loads of $$$ to stock up easily without doing much research.

I somehow never bought from them, but I spend half an hour or so in the shop whenever I am there.
Cheers!
