Prashant, I see from your photos and from some other reading how the Pallas Fish Eagle does look similar to the Bald Eagle!
Do the tigers go after those wild pigs? If an elephant can smell a tiger, I would suppose a pig could, given their sense of smell, but on the other hand, those pigs looked like they would be a tasty morsel for a tiger's treat.
I am still in awe of the elephants -- to have them moving about in the wild is something beyond my imagination!

Briha Sir. I was introduced to Dhikala by my grand father. He would visit the place every year. I have traveled to a number of forests in India and abroad . But Dhikala remains my favorite. My first love.
Timmy. Tigers are at the top of the food chain .They can hunt and eat everything. There are four species of deer here in abundance. Sambar,Cheetal,Hog deer and Barking deer. There are enough wild boar as well. Elsewhere in the terai , tigers have been known to kill rhino calfs and elephant calf s. Down south tigers regularly feast on Gaur , which is the largest wild cattle.
Their speed and power is amazing. A couple of months back we tried to track a big male tiger with a team of forest officials which had killed a sambar deer and carried it across a stream, up a ridge and into thick undergrowth for more than 600 m before feasting on it.
such is the power of this majestic beast.
thanks for putting up the snaps of the hog deer Pran. As obvious the hog deer has nothing to do with the pig. In fact it is closely related to the spotted deer and is often found grazing with them. As a child I have seen herds of hundreds here but over the years their numbers have gone down. May I request you put up the last set of snaps Pran.
The hog deer is so called because when it runs. It runs with his tail up and head down. Somewhat like a hog.

Hi Prashant,
> This innocuous statement of yours reminds me of the following true incident I read in Time Magazine a very long time ago...
"The famous painter Pablo Picasso was lying on the sands of a beach in Majorca when the well known millionaire & recluse Howard Hughes taking a walk on the same beach tripped over Picasso's legs...
HH: Hey there, why don't you go some place else to sun yourself....
PP: You don't own the beach, I'll sun myself anywhere I please....
But when their eyes met instant recognition took place (as they were old friends)
Whereupon Hughes requested Picasso to draw something for him to remember their impromptu meeting...
Picasso took out a sheet of paper & quickly scribbled something with a crayon & gave to him...
Hughes looked at it & said ....Pablo why don't you sign this...
Picasso replied... No my friend, people should look at it and say "Wow that's a Picasso"
Cheers
