Import of Toy Handguns

Post by firearm » Sun Jun 17, 2007 5:52 pm

Can any one throw light on how to import the patented toy handguns? Are only arms dealers entitled to import theses toy guns? According to international norms is it to possible to buy these guns abroad and carry it in our baggage to bring them here in India? Does it need any license from authorities? If we use them in India is it illegal?

Than you..........

Hi Firearm

Would you mean the plastic replicas, or the ones that fire flash, or the air-guns which are replicas?

Or is there something else you mean by patented toy guns..

Regards
Ranjeet

Yes they are freely available in any good Toys / sports shop. If you are in Bangalore there is a Toy shop on the corner of Brigade road and Church street - i hear they are pretty good too. Rates are not more than 500 or so.

i really don't know what is used in bollywood, but the ones I saw, really good replicas are the ones which fire pepper or flash cartridges - These are good stuff....to look at
Specially if you can get a Luger 9mm parabellum or Mauser C 96 or for that matter the colt 1911 A1 - All these tend to be about Euro 200. Could be purchased by showing you are 18 yrs.. I was about to pick one of these....but the shopkeeper said a hammer is more effective and cheaper...and a knife always works..Ended up with the Aitor.. see the point..

And the one shop at Brigade's its called Sapphire...I frequently visit that shop..
 of course to buy some toys for my kid..i have seen the replicas...real cheap quality and a handgun replica would cost you about 90 bucks...if you ask me , i would rather save that 90 bucks

Cheers

Hi,

This guy is asking what they call " BLANK FIRING GUNS " used in holly / Bolly. There was a post earlier in which some one told that you can bring them in baggage ( some one bought it from Thailand ) but no one suggested import it's difficult to prove that these are replicas.......you guys know how govt. officials work ......so better buy something you can get from local market ( India ) If you get some product information of the stuff which this bangalore shop is selling do let me know ..........hey boss from bangalore please post some pics or details of stuff which is avialble......thanks !!!!!

These are just air soft pistols. If you check an online air gun shop you will realise that most replicas look exactly like real ones and function almost the same way with blanks. Blanks are two types .9mm and .22. The .22 ones look like just the lower part of a .22 cartridge with a small case. These atleast don't resemble a cartridge so may be easier to prove that its isn't a real pistol. You get a few revolver types which have a plugged barrel that can't be altered. This may be a safer bet. The .9mm Beretta 92f clones are very true to life. These could get one into trouble with customs. One chap got one in the mail and had to go through a lot of trouble to prove it wasn't real. Apparently the customs guys have armorers in tow, they go to great lengths that your intent was to convert the .9mms to .22 pistols ;-(.

So you may be better off getting an airsoft pistol that uses gas to do a blow back imitation. These are totally hard plastic and not difficult to prove as toys while still being real enough.

Its quite a high to empty a magazine of 6mm plastic bbs and watch the slide bang open at the end. For ref check tokyo marui web page.

Hi,

I could find some Blank Firing Guns they are also called signaling Guns. Its price ranges from Rs. 27k to 40k in local market depending on its make and model. You will get a beretta or walther for 40k. Most of the time you will find these guns with Arms Dealer only.
