Sharpe!

Post by xl_target » Tue May 13, 2014 8:01 am

I have read many of the novels of Bernard Cornwell.
He is an excellent writer and his prose flows. His series about the life of Richard Sharpe caught my imagination many years ago.
The novels are set during a very turbulent time in European history; The Napoleanic Wars. (some of the episodes are set in India too)
Richard Sharpe rises through the ranks to become an officer in the British Army and continues to rise through grit, ability and determination.

They are stirring stories but they are only that; stories. However, that being said they do give you a little bit of knowledge about the times and the weapons used during that period.
Many novels don't do well when adapted to the screen but Richard Sharpe is ably played by Sean Bean and its a rollicking good yarn.

I know many of you here are already familiar with Sharpe and his expolits but I for one did enjoy revisiting the series.

Unfortunately, Ashok, I have not won anything at this time. :)
I just wanted to share a good story.

you'll find that Cornwell is very much alive and earning a royalty. Hence his works are unlikely to be open access.
