My parents taught me, "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all."
Surely, when it comes to certain things, adhering to this means being very silent!
We talk about nations and societies on these boards, and many times it is easy to become cynical due to unfair and unjust laws, foolhardy environmental actions (or lack of the same), and many other maladies.
However, at rock bottom, I believe that the strength of a nation or a society is the goodness of its people -- and a people's goodness is formed by the goodness that is in each individual, taken one at a time.
I saw this article in the news today, and I thought, India must be blessed, to have such a citizen as this little girl:
Say what you will about anything or anyone else, if it is in such little hands that the hope for the future lies, bright days must be ahead!

> While we doff our hats to Ms.Laila Alva, a word of appreciation must go to Mr.Raghuram Rajan - Governor of the Reserve Bank of India to have acknowledged Laila's letter & invited her to RBI - The photograph of the two of them must serve as an inspiration to others to follow her concern & example.

Something which only a little child could have the simplicity of heart to do. But rare for her parents to allow her to do so (of course, she wouldn't have posted the letter hersefl!!). Kudos to Laila's parents!
And even rarer for a very senior bureaucrat to respect this little gesture from a little child! Hats off, Mr. Rajan!
