Long over due Range report: Finally got around to taking the .22 and the .204 ruger to the range. For the .22 used 40 grain velocitors and for the .204 used 32 grain federal premiums at a blazing 4000 + fps. I fired in only at 25 mts as the 100mt range was chocoblock with enthusiasts. All the grouping is sub moa which was very heartening indeed. For comparison there is a 10 cent NZ coin which is the same size as the old 25 paisa coin if you remember.
.22 LR was a Savage with the accutrigger
Ruger .204 was in Ruger MK2 . Had posted pics earlier

Re: .204 Ruger and .22 Velocitors range report
Finally Oggie! I've been waiting for this.
Sounds like the .204 is going to be a good shooter.
Would love to see more as you get her to stretch her legs at longer distances.

Re: .204 Ruger and .22 Velocitors range report
I knew you would be sir ! So sorry for the delay. Its been on my mind but work and the demanding sprog (he's 5 yrs old) have really kept me away from the range. Also the range only operates for general practice every second Sunday which made it harder. But I was ecstatic with the preliminary grouping at 25 mts. I'm off hunting in April so will post on wound channels etc from the 32 grain as well as the 40 and 45 grain if time permits. Overall my feel is the .204 is a very accurate round and punches well above its weight.
Was also impressed with the CCI velocitors .22 LR. They were really accurate too ! Cannot wait to field test these too !

Thanks for the range report,Oggie. The .22 shoots well. While the .204 is not bad, I would like to see how it behaves at longer ranges.Must be real fun shooting it at longer ranges. 4000 FPS, you say! I wonder how the bullet behaves on impact. Is it jacketed or lead? Thanks again.

Jacketed. If it were lead, you'd see a blue streak upon firing and an untouched target. Even hardened alloyed lead has to stay under 2,000 fps.Vikram wrote:Thanks for the range report,Oggie.
