Re: Pepper Spray used in Parliament
The said MP used the pepper spray to protect himself when a group of opposition MPs attacked him.

After I stopped laughing, I realised that now pepper sprays might be banned, or worse, licensed!!
Cheers!

Talked to an MP from Bengal who was at the spot yesterday. He said the guy kept spraying in the air at random, sparing practically none in the close vicinity

Hey,
Also,
Another thought came to my mind what if that guy had access to a weapon like say a rifle/pistol?
It would have been a massacre
Now we know why Arms Licensing is so strict in our country
These people/Law makers can't handle a pepper spray properly then just imagine if they are issued License what might be the result
God Bless
Regards,
RA.50
P.S : But Whatever the scene was at the parliament, it was
I had the same thoughts, are they now considering to License Pepper Spray??essdee1972 wrote:After I stopped laughing, I realised that now pepper sprays might be banned, or worse, licensed!!

You will be surprised to know that most of the MP's have arms license and bought themselves imported weapons by paying just nominal government fees.RA.50 wrote: Another thought came to my mind what if that guy had access to a weapon like say a rifle/pistol?

Re: Pepper Spray used in Parliament
Brihaji, I think you got me wrong. The MP from Bengal was one of the victims of the attack. He has narrated his experience in two leading newspapers and was interviewed by some TV channels yesterday. His is Prof Sougata Roy of Trinamool Congress, one of the most educated and respected MPs from Bengal. And Trinamool Congress is not a party to the Telengana movement.brihacharan wrote:Downright shameful of the MP from Bengal to have resorted to this abominable actTC wrote:Talked to an MP from Bengal who was at the spot yesterday. Re: Pepper Spray used in Parliament
Please don't believe all what you read on news papers and on pvt TV channels are absolutely true. No news paper or TV channel in India is completely unbiased and report the Facts. The Govt owns DD and all the Pvt channels are affiliated to one or another political party for their own reasons and show clippings of their own choice only and papers also do the same reporting what they want. Only the uncensored cctv footage of the parliament's own channel would reveal the facts, which I don't believe no Govt would have the guts to do.
While what happened in the House should never have happened, Every party has its own reasons why such a thing had taken place. Only the people of Andhra Pradesh are concerned about what happened. Here, emotions, fears, anger, frustration and egos are involved in the way the bill was introduced and how the central Govt is acting for its own political advantages and completely neglecting the seemaandhra's concerns about their future. With the current bill all the advantages and benefits are going to the Telengana and this would set the rest of Andhra Pradesh at least a couple of decades back. Only those belong to Andhra Pradesh can understand the implications of the current bill. So people from other states please don't comment on this issue.
I can elaborate why an MP had to resort to use pepper spray to disperse a mob who were beating him with fists and kicking him when he was trying to rescue a fellow MP who is not a member of his own party but a member of an opposition party ( but is supporting the cause ), but I refrain from doing so because it is a long story of how politics work. Only I request that ,forum members from other states who don't really don't know what is really happening, to stop posting on this issue anymore.
All I could say is that the central Govt is tearing apart the state for their own political reasons and making the people of Andhra Region and Rayalaseema Region look like villains and fools. People of Andhra Pradesh knew that bifurcation of the state is inevitable, but what we are afraid of is that the current bill is completely unacceptable because it is completely to the advantage of Telangana State in every aspect and ultimately the people of andhra who were the key factors in the development of Hyderabad to the current level would be the sad loosers.
Anyway this forum is for the shooting lovers and not a platform for debating politics and the behavior of MPs of a particular state in the Parliament. Everybody has their
own reasons. But please stop making ridicule of people of Andhra and some of their hot headed MPs. Please try to understand our agony. Now the people of Telangana would be enjoying the fruits of andhra people's sweat and labor in developing the State's capitol city.
I request the moderators to lock up this thread kindly so that more people could not make ridicule us andhra people for the actions of some of our MPs in the house.

Re: Pepper Spray used in Parliament
GNV,
While I respect and understand your concern for the issue of Telengana I would humbly like to make the following points.
a) Indians For Guns is a forum that is solely and exclusively concerned with guns, shooting sports and gun ownership rights in India. And, the vast and wide spectrum of these issues obviously brings under focus related issues such as wild life conservation, air guns, sharp weapons, gun related crimes, self defence and even photography, fishing and pets as part of outdoor activity. Each and every section on the forum and the threads that follow make this very apparent. This particular thread, for example, says "Pepper Spray used in Parliament." All those who posted here only talked of or reacted to use of pepper spray in Parliament. Nobody uttered a word on the political issue or its ramifications.
This forum does not subscribe to any political party, does not have any political affiliation and, last but not the least, does not encourage discussion on any political issue unless it concerns/ supports/ affects the rights of gun owners or shooting sports or issues related to these.
b) Though this is off topic as far as IFG in concerned, I agree to some extent that a certain section of regional media often gets biased towards certain issues, parties or pressure groups. But it remains a fact that incidents covered on camera and telecast across the nation does not and cannot distort the basics, which, in this case, happens to be use of pepper spray in Parliament. Please bear in mind that members of this forum cannot discuss 'why'. If we started doing that then thousands of our members spread not just across the length and breadth of India but even beyond would be discussing things
that are not even remotely connected to the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. If I was the only one who mentioned the word Telengana then it was only to clarify something to another member. If you go through the earlier posts it will become apparent to you.
c) While it is entirely up to the Moderators to decide whether this topic should be locked I would humbly request you to adhere to forum rules. And, I reiterate that I fully respect your personal rights. But if you and I were to discuss the issues you have raised, we would have to do it on some other forum.
Regards
TC
