hi friends,
got revolver mark iii, finally. seems to be a good piece, trigger is not hard at all but very smooth,want to fire soon but following problems #
1. axis cylinder badly rusted
2. cylinder somewhat rusted
3, ctach barrel is vey very hard/ its thumb breaking.

should i try to disassemble cylinder and remove the rust? what materials to use?
please avise.

Hi..
Finally fired 6 shots today from my new revolver. Although couldn't hit a bottle from 15 m, satisfied with accuracy and confident now.

Only one bullet misfired which fired ok on 2nd attempt.

Revolver became very dirty, will try my hand at dismantling the cylinder today for cleaning and will fire again in a few days.

Congrats on owning the Indian beauty. Your gun is still in warrenty . I advice you to call up the iof and register your complaint. Do not try to open the cylinder yourself or from a desi shop. However, you should have checked the rusting etc while taking over the gun. Now you can call them up and explain your problem first.based on there reply and feasibility as far as your comfert goes you can decide what to do.

Thanks pdn. Impossible to go to kanpur. Makeover, I don't think i mentioned any defects. Suppose one odd misfire is ok.
Actually i'm attempting to open cylinder out of curiosity as I want to master my wpn. If it becomes unmanageable, reputed dealers, gunsmiths are always there.

Misfire should not occur in iof revolver.it has never occurred in my mk 2 revolver which has fired close to two hundred rounds. So you can consider taking it to any good gunsmith and tell him to check the cylinder alignment. If he says its OK then you should only venture around with the chamber. Misfit chamber may cause disaster. Rusting in a new gun is also not normal...but less to worry. hope u have purchased good craning kit and oils. That will solve your problem. If you stay at a humid place then you must purchase silicon pouch for your revolver to prevent from moisture. It is available online at http://WWW.Collectorsheritage.com n gun accessaries section in India. Costs rs 500 or so but worth it. Enjoy shooting.

hi micky,
did you complain about the rusted cylinder to the factory? a brand new gun is not supposed to be rusted. many people in this forum have purchased the iof .32 rev but they didn't have this problem.

do keep us updated about the response from the factory in case you complain.

After spending so much time, money and energy, i've little left to fight the system.
On the lighte side- Beggars are not choosers.
Ive used wd 40 , all rust gone now. Fired, cleaned and got inspected by local dealer. Satisfied now.

@ Micky- I dont think WD40 is the best solution for oiling your gun. And oil your gun atleast every 2 weeks to keep in good health. You can use Silica Gel (one small pouch we usually find in new refrigerators and other electronic goods), you can buy them in packaging stores or photostudios. Place a pouch in your holster/silicon case to save from moisture.

Even I have plans to get a revolver. My research on what to buy has not yet started. With your valuable experience, i would be able to make a decision soon.
