TC , The patina has improved over time. I usually use the Rick Hargis EDC for food prep. And the patina has evolved over time...especially since it loves slicing limes for the evening cocktails :)

The Svord Peasant

This is a beautiful friction folder from New Zealand. The design is very old and its so gratifying to see that old designs endure and thrive. There are some knives that are haunting in their simplicity and just a pleasure to use.

The Svord Peasant is one such blade. Gifted to me by my chef buddy who lives in New Zealand.

Briha Sir, this is L6 carbon steel. Very good steel. Holds an edge for a decent usage. Basically its low alloy special purpose tool steel and this makes it a very tough steel. It is an oil hardened tool steel and is hard, tough and wear resistant.

The knife closes firmly and is locked simply by the friction between the wooden handle scales. When open, the knife has no lock. The top of the folder has an extended tang that fits into a groove on the top of the wooden scales. The extended tang also allows for one hand opening. When held firmly, the knife will not close into your hand. And when slicing downwards, there is any way no chance of the blade closing.

The handle is wood. It needs some work. Will sand it and apply oil.

I am a finicky collector. So every blade is a personal choice...based upon research and my personal bias. I have a small list of blades on my 'want' list....and I update it periodically. So, each blade end up as a preferred companion. There are some that rise above the others.

Just received the BK 15. Its just perfect. Cant describe the feeling, unless you hold it in your hand. I shall be posting a detailed review soon. In the interim, here are some pictures for you

Hi slingshot,
> Truly thou art a connoisseur par excellence :D
> Ogling at the pics, I couldn't help throw in my 2 bits of appreciation!

The dark knight has arrived
A moment long awaited,
Sharp of edge & the point dropped
In the hands of slingshot much delighted!

Congrats brother your choice is keen
Finest amongst blades I’ve ever seen,
Someday I want to caress it too
Don’t mind even if I drop in out of the blue!!!

Slingshot's "Kebabs and Blades"

Oh! What a name that says it all "Kebabs & Blades" :D
My imagination just ran riot & if the vision could only turn to reality it would be the Virtual Mecca for all of us...
A Pub located in an alley off the city's business hub...
The neon sign in blue & red "KEBABS & BLADES"articulating our wishes & sentiments with the Tag-Line beneath that says "Your Place Away from Home"....
Inside the decor is made up of rough hewn timber rafters - the side walls displaying blades of every conceivable shape, size and vintage...
A well stocked bar & the appetizing aroma of grilled kebabs floating in the air....
Guys within animatedly discussing the merits of edges & points over brimming frothies...
The atmosphere drenched in fellowship, bonhomie, laughter & merriment....
> Well it had to happen...a client just rang to fix an urgent meeting to finalize a new product launch & there goes my dream
