Finally met the Brit Beauty

Post by moulindu » Thu Dec 12, 2013 11:08 pm

Hi
After long awaiting hour finally got to meet the Brit Beauty, I call her T-Rex.
She has got all the beauty & elegance to keep you stare at her even if you are not using her. Where to start.........................
http://i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q64 ... 94a4b1.jpg
Barrel- It has Lothar Walthar barrel, its 13 inch long with deep bluing. It has a shrouded barrel which lessens the report & also has a spring loaded ball detent at the muzzle to lock the cocking lever. Its 4.5 mm cal.
http://s1352.photobucket.com/user/mouli ... 0.jpg.html
Receiver- Since its a LH model the breech is at the left side of the stock. Its safety loading mechanism or Anti bear trap is situated at the right side. It has a scope rail with 3 stop pins for securing the scope. It does not come with iron sights so scope is a must.
http://s1352.photobucket.com/user/mouli ... 4.jpg.html
Power Plant-It has a spring piston power plant & pellet velocity measured by a chronograph with Beeman Lasers 7.1 grain pellets for 10 shots
1006.14/1010.21/993.84/1000.82/1000.24/995.63/993.43/991.72/992.86/989.53 fps
Avg Veocity-997.442fps, Avg Energy-15.68 fpe
http://s1352.photobucket.com/user/mouli ... 7.jpg.html
Stock-Its a left handed walnut stock with fish scale chequering at the fore hand & pistol grip & rose wood end cap. It has raised cheek piece & ventilate rubber butt pad. The fore hand part is rounded so gives a nice feel while resting it on the non shooting hand. Though it weighs 3.9 kg (walnut model) it comes to the shoulder easily & target acquisition is pretty easy.
http://s1352.photobucket.com/user/mouli ... 6.jpg.html
http://s1352.photobucket.com/user/mouli ... d.jpg.html
Trigger-The computer design match grade trigger is two stage adjustable. It has automatic trigger safety mechanism. Well Mr Rick Eustler speaks highly of this trigger even more than the Rekord trigger.

I cant point out a single thing, she is perfect from left right & centre.

Well had my shooting session with T-Rex, I was using 4 kind of pellets Air Arms 4.51mm @ 8.44grn, H&N Baracuda Match 4.5mm @ 10.65 grn, GSmith round head & 10.1grn & MS yellow box flat head. MS were the worst performing pellets with groups worth not even mentioning. I was getting frustrated then comes H&N & AA & the groups started to squeeze in even GSmith performed exceptionally well.

It’s may be because of the light weight of MS pellets

Hi
here are the pics of the target shot 5 times at 18 yrds
Image
The 2nd & 3rd pic is of H&N Baracuda Match. First 4 shots were in the same hole & the 5th was a flier

The 4th & 5th pic is of AA field Diablo 4.51

The 6th & 7th pic is of GSmith

H&N and GSmith wins the grouping wins the contest. I am going to do a 10 shot grouping tomorrow.

Pratikji i found that the MS was not snug fit at the breach but the rest rest of them were fitting nicely into the breach, I am guessing that mite be the primary reason.
If you watch the TX 200 review by Rick Eustler of Airgun web got the best grouping from CP 7.9 grn. Let me know if I am wrong

Hi
I tried shooting hajmola candies & was pretty happy with the effort. So thought of making a video
(Thanx Bennedose  ) with tougher challenge. I shot 0.22 MS pellets 15 yards away sitting position bench rested with Baracuda Match pellets. I am using regular digicam so the video quality is not upto the mark

Hope you guys like it.

Hi Molindu,
> Am a bit confused after seeing the video...
1. What was the target you were shooting at?
2. Where is the Hajmola Candy?
3. Were you shooting at MS pellets with Barracudas.... in which case it's exceptional that you can pick a target as small as a MS pellet :D
> My sincere advice - Please stop using MS pellets henceforth....
> Stick to RWS / JSB / Barracuda etc... & enjoy your shooting... if these are expensive then GSmith is the best alternative...
> Also don't use lighter pellets because you get a higher velocity....you may lose accuracy...
> Stick to the pellet that gives you good accuracy...whatever the weight or brand it may be....
HAPPY SHOOTING :D
