Sausage and curry for lunch

Post by Mark » Sat Nov 30, 2013 1:17 pm

I've been operating some heavy machinery lately, (mainly things like backhoes and dump trucks) and a few weeks ago found me working a ways from where I normally ate lunch. I had some curry and rice leftovers and picked up some "salt and pepper" handmade sausage at a local meat counter.

Next, I found a nice quiet spot to fix my lunch:

And put down my stuff:

Put down some sticks:

Started a fire:

Going pretty good now, let's have a look at those sausages:

Propped on a forked branch:

The bigger the fire, the bigger the fool but I was running close on time so had to speed things up:

And lunch:

Total time from unpacking to eating was about 50 minutes, had to get back to work you know!

In western India there is an interesting dish called 'junglee maas'. Basically, apart from the maas or meat, which could be goat, sheep or small game, the only ingredients are are salt, whole dried red chillies, garlic and oil. All of which are easily available in any village. To be partaken with either jowar( sorghum) or bajra (millet) rotis. And washed down with thick milky sugary tea made from goat or camel milk.

Of course, I can't exactly reproduce it here, but trust me, it beats going to any 5 star restaurant in the world!

Hi Mark,
> The abundant generosity of Mother Nature is in-describable.....
> What an idyllic location to cook & eat lunch....Lucky you :D
> Something tells me that the forest twigs you used to grill those yummy looking sausages, must have lent a unique smoky flavour to it - am I right?
> The total package of the surroundings & DIY meal is certainly "Food for the Soul" :D

Don't know how I missed this post.
What a great lunch!

Yeehaw - Lunch Mark! What a great natural setting - love it!

Looks like the curry part of it was merely dessert and the beautifully toasted, hand-made, 20 gauge, sausages took care of the the 'heavy' work - eh?

Very Yummy - to say the least - and in that setting, gorgeous - stupendous Mark!

Maybe xl_target and party should do a drive by this Aug End - Sep Wk One - Hammerhead, I am sure will consent to bring his hovercraft so that we can flit across the M&M (Mississippi & Missouri) at will! :D
