HI ALL ..

Back from pune yesterday night. Shot a disaapointing 350 with 89, 83,86,92 = 350. Since practise day was converted to shooting, I practised at the room only and shot the match after 3 days of gap. Had been visualizing through out. But when match started, during the practise of 15 mins, it was disaster with 7s and 6s. but was able to get to 9s and 10s. But the end of first series scored 89 including 7 and 8. But was consistent by the end of first series.

And this is the point where i started the disaster. The demon of speed took over me. And started taking shots without visualization before the shot and no analysis after the shot. Just load and shot. Was hitting 8 continuosly. By the time I realized my mistake , 3 series were gone and so were the hopes for MQS. Took some rest and shot the last series with proper visualization and analysis and shot 92 in last series even with low motivation.

Finally realized what in-experience means. But it was a learning experience.Shared cabin with a junior national level shooter who is in internation team right now and also won 3 medals at GFG while coming back luckily and her mother advised me atleast 50 times to do HOLDING which I dont do right now nor the figure of 8 exercises. Will surely be better next time.

Have started stand parallel to firing line as I have not been able to dicide the correct firing angle and getting back pains regularly. Will surely dedicate 2 hours to visualization daily.

Thanks to all.

Dear Amarinder, Good show bro - congratulations on a magnificent performance. MQS will come in future - that you were able to pull back up matters. The 3-day break must have done wonders to your system plus you seem to have transited onto the ETS quite well. Good luck for the Asansol meet. Hope you achieve your dreams there. Will miss meeting you there as well, since I am not participating in AIGVMSC. May be at NZ later.

@Jitu - Thanks to VS, FF2003 and I might actually land at Pune on Sunday. Hopefully, we are allowed to play in case the slots are present.

congrats upacharyaji
i dont have any good news from pdra. just returned. yesterday they told today would be the last details so rushed into the 1400hr detail from office. somehow managed to calm myself and enter the lane. the prac was gr8. a lots of 10s. once the shoot started disaster struck. hit a series of bad shots including a 6 and two sevens. had to hit myself mentally to calm down and get the control of the nerves frayed from driving. but somehow could not do much. the random 7s and two sixes added to the frustration. at the end of 3rd set the electricity went off. sat down and cooled down in the darkness. when the power was restroed felt much calmer and went about taking the final set. the scores as per me first set 80/82, second set 85/86,third set 85/86 and last set 88/89. which is almost as much as my gfg attempt. so no improvement to show. will however continue practicing and keep taking complete shoots. because the pressure seems to be getting to me. need to improve the basics of holding and trigger pull.
acharya and upacharya. pl advice on how to train for the trigger pull. some how the trigger pull feels very unsteady and leads to long holds in the aiming area leading to inaccuracy.the hand feels very steady and SA is also ok till it lands in the aiming area. but then once the trigger pull starts the the whole picture starts shaking. what am i doing wrong? pl advice urgently

Jitu,
You may be doing either or all of the following;
1. When you commence trigger squeeze, involuntarily you may be using he the other fingers to squeeze the grip.
2. You may have inadvertently developed a bad habit of shaking your SA when you commence trigger squeeze.
Recommended action:
1. Box drill in dry, tick mark for steady SA along with trigger squeeze. Do it on white then shift to black after achieving 100 %.
2. Go easy on yourself. Who ever said pistol shooting is easy anyway..... :D

when i bought the gun..for first 3-4 months the trigger was around 500 gm as set by company . after it lightened for the first time and i tightened it...it becomes loose again and again like after 50 shots. how to deal with this.

and what is the let- off point in lp 400 air pistol. i once mistakenly rotated this screw in clock wise ..thinking its for tightening the trigger.

ok hvj. i will try this. how do i stop myself from tightening the other fingers when i start the trigger squeeze. i checked today i indeed i seem to be doing all of this. i also seem to be holding the ap too tight. the whole thing hence starts to do a shake dance when i start the trigger squeeze. what is the way preventing the over tight hold. bcause if i hold it normally the steady SA becomes difficult. one more doubt. does one keep the fingers on the grip parallel to the ground on the grip or tapering down. what is the correct grip. wheni hold with the finger tapering down the grip is strong but invariably a torque seems to be given twisting the SA towards the left. pl advise

Dear all,

my internet is fixed at last today. So I will be in touch regularly.
Thanks for your words on my work in WBSSC and the East Zone although it was far from a satisfactory score. A hell lot of nines and nines only :x , 9.8s, 9.9s but hardly any tens. The irony is that it fetched me a bronze medal too.

But the more important award was the befitting verbal dose from Guruji, the right dose that was needed to kick the backside from a distance :D .

agn bhai and jitu bhai, I strongly believe that all you need is also that rightly dosed kick, well aimed at your respective butts, that will be powerful enough to make you stand up and grunt :D . It works just fine for me so why do not you try? ROTFL

best regards

Hi Tir,

Welcome back and congratulations. I think most of us need brain surgery than a mild boot to the back.
I am out of it as I am unable to devote the hour or so every alternate day...that I know is essential for me to keep the group within the 8,9 and 10's.
Will probably go and shoot either centre fire or standard pistol for a lark. They stimulate me much more and I love the challenge of the timing.

Regards,

dev
