As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.

Believe me Basu, when it comes to metal working - Doc can teach us a few awesome tricks...
BTW ... The blades Doc is holding in his hands are made by 'essdee' aka Shoubhik - yet to be finished... They are a Bowie & a Boker!

Re: Mumbai Churi Mochi Gang Meet!
Dear Basu,
Doc has "varied" interests and is a *guru* in non-AR realm as well. That was essdee1972's WIP that doc was getting consulted on.
Dear Moin,
FF seems to be facing the same problem of resizing and centering that I did. Could you please do something about it ? Meanwhile I shall paste direct links so all the rest can benefit.
Dear PM, We certainly missed you (and talked a lot of your progress on sharpies and dremel) and also the lawyer (what's his handle ?)
===========================================================
Anyway, here's some introduction to the prime time that IFG CMG had -
We all assembled at brihji's place to take a peek at his Turbonator and the Gas Ram (nitro-pistonized) Orion. Of course that also provided an opportunity to flush out the sharpies and take a few pictures.
slingshot - the Man with a literal "Treasure Trove" in a wooden chest flicked out his Boker+. Such a small thing but effective and deadly.
Now if Boker is what our slingshot uses to file his nails, well this is what he uses as a toothpick - a Leatherman !
The ever-enthusiastic essdee1972 was quick to jump with "Me too. Me too." So we all took a look at what he was up to these days. Of course the gurus (Moin, the Doc and lanceman) of the sharpies were quick to cast their watchful eye on his efforts here.
Then of course our in-house Mumbai expert on sharpies, Moin, decided to see what the chatter on ARs was all about. he realised that unlike the sharpies, he needed to use two hands and one eye to handle this Brih-special Turbonator.
Meanwhile naughty boy, essdee1972, was quick to sneak around and grab the nitro-piston induced Orion. But was he caught in the act!
The Quartet was all ready to charge in with enthusiasm.
Just then a little angel, "Chhota Jawaan", whispered in AGN's ear - I have a big banduk too, just like my grandpa. Like to see it ?
And he posed - rest assured our future is secured.
While all this was going on, ak49ji graced us all with an all-encompassing divine smile; beaming with pride and joy.
The the Brigadier lanceman got all of us jawans into a parade and that was the time for some serious talk. A field lecture on Sniping 101 (3 credits) . Practicals (1 credit) to follow later.
Then was the time to move out and link-up with fantumfan2003 who has already carried out reconnaissance of the Meeting Point - Bombay Presidency Golf Club. We soon settled in a corner and the talk was on. lanceman enthralled us all with anecdotes from the "action days" - Boy ! What a journey it was !! We traveled all the way from Aksai Chin to Ceylone; from the gatlin gun to the laser finders. Brihji chipped in with his own barrage of jokes (which unfortunately the IFG can not be privy to ). Doc joined in with his own experiences and we had a serious discussion on why certain material on ballistics and forensics should not be posted on the forum. A healthy respect developed for the mods/ admins who do a fine job thereby. All this while food and drinks were flowing aplenty.
Then that time of the day arrived which bade us that it was a time well-spent.

(the Doc, airgun_novice, brihacharan, slingshot, lanceman, essdee1972, Moin., ak49)
We all had to go our separate ways and man our respective stations. So we decided to bid "au revoir" - not adieu. Well till next time we link up, anyway.
I must have said this before, but here I go again, what a fantastic place IFG is to get so many like-minded folks together in addition to the wealth of information that is so readily available. May our tribe live long and prosper.

As AGN has rightly concluded .....
I must have said this before, but here I go again, what a fantastic place IFG is to get so many like-minded folks together in addition to the wealth of information that is so readily available. May our tribe live long and prosper.
YUP! The 'Dirty Dozen' (You see 9 of them - the rest 3 couldn't make it due to last minute professional commitments) with varied professions & expertise coming together like long lost brothers in arms (no pun intended) and bonding with an adhesive stronger than Araldite (It's called IFG)
We met at 11.30am & disbanded at 3.30pm - 4 hours of bonhomie ranging from, AR designing, Ballistics, Firearms, Optics (Scopes), Knives (choice of metal, metal working, points & edges etc..., field experiences, law & legality that cover arms, humor unlimited and many more!
BTW.....
'Dirty' as referred above is used as an endearing term, as in "Kabhi Daag Bhi Achha Lakta Hain" (a la 'Surf' detergent TVC)

No need Sir - we all are proud to be an integral part of IFG. It's in fact "IFG's CMG @Mumbai - or CMG for short". regs, A.dr.jayakumar wrote:CMG..nice to see you all.are you guys planning a new forum"churi mochi gang'?

Re: Mumbai Churi Mochi Gang Meet!
Dr. JK, "Chhuri Mochi Gang" was the name bestowed by IFG's esteemed US rep, XL_Target, on seeing the pics when we had gone hunting for leather to make DIY sheaths for the DIY blades (and somehow ended up polishing off a few plates of mutton biryani). Hence Chhuri (knife) and Mochi (cobbler)!!!
Three Cheers for IFG!! Hip Hip Hurray!! (repeated twice)

No way Dr.JK.....
Since blades form a part of the topics covered by IFG & we find to our pleasant surprise that most AR enthusiasts also indulge & are interested in blades its become an integral part of this great brotherhood...
If my memory serves me right it was xl_target who coined the 'appendage'
We liked it so much "We adopted it"
