Fantastic pictures Dr JK sir, specially the Royal bengal tigers and Leopard snaps.
Looks like you had very adventurous trip.
I highly appreciate your efforts to frame these stunning pictures which is not an easy task. I am imagining the background scenarios and preparatory works for these pictures.

Aftab

Re: Protecting Cameras and lenses from Fungi

Many new users store their camera bodies and lenses in the respective bags. Result ? Fungus on lenses elements. Whatever anyone tells you, once a lens is opened to remove the fungus (charges Rs. 1000/- minimum) the lens is never the same. foucus is out, strange noises etc...in short....prevention is better than cure....

Here is what I do and something that has worked for me for years.

Fungus needs darkness and dampness to grow so....

I store all my lenses with front and back covers removed in a small cupboard with a 5W CFL bulb lit up 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days in a year (24x7x365 is how they put it, catch isn't it ?). Some people use a zero watt (which is actually 10W or 15W) incandescent bulb and it works too. The light and lenses are arranged in such a way that light from bulb passes from front of lens and exits through the rear. Both types of bulbs raise the temperature in the cupboard which helps in reducing or eliminating moisture.

Usually I used to leave my 18-55 on my Nikon and let the light in through the front element. I do the same for my FZ28.

I use the same for my binoculars and scopes.

As an added insurance I keep two or three satchets of silica gel in the cupboard which absorb all moisture.

Commercial options available are a dehumidifier cabinet but these are expensive.

Another wordy story, I admit, but one that will prevent grief for all. Trust me seeing fungi on your lens is really heartbreaking.

M.

Dear Manish

try googling "kalabhai" . They have a store in Mumbai from which I bought a " Digi- Cabi" - which is a dehumidified cabinet with lockable glass door . I have a D90 and a D 800 with 6 lenses and they all fit in beautifully in the cabinet . It costs approx 12000 rupees . The cabinet has a dial which controls moisture . Keep it at 40-42 % humidity and forget all about silica gel and news paper etc .

BTW I have shifted base to Mumbai for some time and live in Thane . Looking forward to meeting up with the IFG gang in Mumbai .

Best

Very good pics of the Leopard stretched out on a limb :D
In the second pic the Leopard seems to be annoyed with your presence (intruding into his privacy) and is 'Yelling' at you to leave him / her alone
Over all the 'depth of field' in the pics truly project the density of the jungle also the perspective showing the Leopard high up are worthy of appreciation from a photographer's point of view :D
