As we where close to the core area we saw few Sambar deer, nothing special about it.we had James from US who suddenly shot out "what is the connection between Sambar and Indians"? Everyone had their version of explanation, well i had mine.I told him where there is a Sambar there will be a tiger? 'Is it true'? he asked,i said we will wait for that.

Hi Doc JK,
Look like you had a very interesting trek at the Kabini Wildlife park.
Re: Sambar - You're right as they are part of a Tiger's menu
A full grown adult male is a magnificent sight ....
However you could've told your friend James that ... There is another kind of Sambhar which is found wherever a 'South Indian' resides - Aromatic - Spicy - Yummy

Three things you should use while taking photographs...
1. Lens Hood - This not only protects the lens but prevents external side-light from causing glares in the picture
2. UV filter - Helps in reducing hot spots due to reflection & haze
3. Mono or tripod to steady the camera shake especially when using low shutter speeds.
Lastly if you are shooting in low light & not using 'auto-mode' - get a light meter - helps to get the right combination of aperture & shutter speed.
Happy Shooting
