Haunted

Post by prashantsingh » Tue Jul 16, 2013 10:41 pm

A former Victorian Resort. Built in 1902.
Once reserved for the rich and famous.
If you were not staying there. You were at least expected to be seen there.

A hotel believed to be haunted.

The hotel which inspired Agatha Christie to pen down her first novel.

In the early 1910's Lady Garnet Orme was murdered. The murdered never found.

This was the first of many more to come.

A young girl staying in the hotel, killed by her companion.

A young couple killing their only child and then committing suicide.

People hearing screams in the middle of the night.
Sounds coming from the Billiards room when the place appeared to be empty.

and stories I have only heard.

Hotel Savoy. Mussoorie.

So when the Hotel opened again on the 1st of July 2013 after a gap of some decades.
It was this inquisitiveness , more than anything else which pulled me to this place.

I was pleasantly surprised to see the Hotel beautifully restored.
The unfortunate cloud burst and the floods in the Hill state (Kedarnath) had had a terrible impact on tourism.
It was obvious that the owners had spent a lot of money to restore the place.
The Hotel looked great . But apart from the staff we appeared to be the only guys around.
Was this place jinxed?

Nice info. In most Hollywood horror movies  , I have seen that the ghosts are killed by 12 bore shotguns....

Zombies yes.
Ghosts, usually not. (Exorcist, Paranormal activity, Poltergeist, Sixth sense, Ring series, Grudge series, Evil dead.... and hundreds more)

The hotel and scenario does remind me of Shining. Another film with shotgun proof ghosts

It looks like a really neat place, Prashant.

I don't believe in Ghosts either Ashok.
The place is beautiful.
Reminiscent of the British Raj.
The good thing is that they have restored it very well.
The food is good though the cuisine limited.
The staff is courteous and hospitable. Infact they go out of their way to look after you. Perhaps because they have few clients right now.
A must see, if you are in Mussoorie.

Thanks for this story and pictures, Prashantji. It is quite intriguing and the facilities look beautiful, as you say. I think we should have an IFG grand meeting there -- I would love to be able to come to it!

Lovely place, Prashantji, thanks for sharing....

Planning a UK visit around Diwali...... Prashantji, what's the tarriff? Will they waive off the tariffs if we see a ghost? As far as I am concerned, a few extra drinks on the house is good enough!!

We know now that ghosts cannot be shot with guns (thanks, Hamiclar!), but can they be shot with cameras?
Cheers!
