my new brno model 1
Hai all,
iam brijesh from karnataka, Finally i managed to get my license for 22 riffle and a short gun after almost a year after applying.
went to a lot of dealers and checked a lot of riffles, finally settled for a BRNO model 1.
The riffle is in good condition, the stock is rebuilt but rest all is in original condition. the bolt is really smoooth, aim is perfect and the grooves are intact even after 65 years.
iam posting some pics and if some body could give me some additional info about this rifle, that would be great. does BRNO model 1 has micro grooves???

Re: my new brno model 1
There are conflicting opinions as to the origins of the Brno Model 1 but the consensus is that it was originally designed as a training rifle for the Germans during WWII whilst Czechoslavakia was under German occupation. Postwar these rifles were rebuilt and, together with new production, were marketed as the Model 1. Rifles stamped `tgf` were manufactured for the Germans. The last two digits of the year of manufacture should be stamped on the forward part of the left side of the receiver and often repeated on the barrel. ( Eg, `49` = 1949. )
The Brno Model 1 eventually developed into the CZ 452.
Your Brno definitely does NOT have `Micro groove` rifling - it has cut rifling. `Micro groove` rifling was introduced by Marlin in the early 1950s and is a Marlin trademark.
It looks like someone has been rather heavy handed with the paint brush when lacquering your rifle`s stock.

hai,
i spoke with a lot of dealers in south and even went to a few dealers, most of them had Brno model 2,2e and single shot. only one dealer in coorg had model 1 which i bought and he said its very difficult to get model 1, 2 is available in plenty. is it true?????

The Brno Model 1 is not `rare` but there were considerably more Model 2s, 2Es, etc, built.

Re: my new brno model 1
BTW What are the differences between all these models ? Is there any major differences like length of barrel, rate of twist,no. of grooves etc ?
