Not one M98 safety `lying around` ...... I am surprised.
How much of a punt was that Winnie ? You can`t really have been expecting a positive response.

There`s an offer !
A quick trip to Alaska - just a minor detour on your way to the supermarket.

Do not expect a freebie. Will pay for it and the shipping. It is for a commercial FN Mauser that visited a 'gunsmith' who managed to lose the lever.

Re: Mauser 98 safety lever
Don't know if I can take the heat anymore, if was pretty darn hot there in May of '48, if I recall correctly. No meat? The deal's off. I'll take a nice cold orange squash, though. A cold frosty Taj would have been nice.winnie_the_pooh wrote:

If it's a commercial FN, unless very early, it propably had a different safety, for scope use. Not the regular 180 degree Mauser style. And a replacement may not fit. Just a thought.
P.S.: Besides, right now wouldn't be a good time to come, smokier then the entrance to Hades, and under evacuation advisory.

That is what it had.The receiver is not drilled for scope mounts. As far as the heat is concerned, can take you to the hills.Nice and cool there even in the summers.TwoRivers wrote: the regular 180 degree Mauser style.

Well, in that case one won't be that hard to come by. PM me. Even your hills may be too hot. Heat in the nineties F is getting to be too much.winnie_the_pooh wrote:That is what it had.The receiver is not drilled for scope mounts. As far as the heat is concerned, can take you to the hills.Nice and cool there even in the summers.TwoRivers wrote: the regular 180 degree Mauser style.

Hi Winnie,
Would love to see your rifle. Good to know that you have added a nice rifle to your collection.

Re: Mauser 98 safety lever
Dev,
First, with just 3 firearms allowed per person and even the privileged 'Renowned Shots' allowed only a dozen or so,no one in India has a 'collection'. Just like you would not call 3 postage stamps a 'Stamp Collection'.Nor would you call 12 postage stamps a 'Stamp Collection'
Second,I only count those firearms as my own that are on my license At the moment I have only a pistol on my license.
Third,it is just a bog standard Mauser action rifle.Thousands of photos of them on the net.
Fourth, even if I buy a propaah rifle made by a vaunted Brit name,I would probably still not post photos of it.Just do not feel the need for it.

Wonder why you have so much angst inside you, take a deep breath and relax.
Of you don't want to share pics of your toys its okay.
If calling three firearms a collection is a mortal sin in your rule book, I apologise for my inconsiderate act.
