Still more blades, the dark patina you see on the carbon blades is grease, been too lazy to remove it before photographing.

Nice collection Lanceman,
The contraption from Rajasthan certainly deserves a place in any good collection
And may I ask where you got that Indian copy of the British field knife? Did you ever shop in Kolkata ? A posting with the Eastern Command maybe...
Cheers

TC, thanks for appreciating.
Never served inEastern Command, picked that soldiers knife up in the kabadi shops of Pune many years ago. It is in surprisingly good condition, fibre handle. Needed some WD 40 to get it back in shape.

Very very nice Sir. Love the Suares Bushcraft knife. The older folders and specially the Rajasthani SAK has a lovely patina of age on it. Please do post more when ever you get time. Thanks for sharing.

Re: More blades from Lanceman
Lanceman,
Nishith has already answered your question and, as expected, my dear brother Moin has pulled my leg....
Asked whether you had been in Kolkata because at least a dozen copies such as these (some with genuine stag handles )were made by a great gunsmith from my city years ago. He was a master in blade making and would make knives out of his old files as a hobby and for some extra bucks whenever he had time to spare. Since had had many "friends" in Fort William I thought this could be a gift
Cheers

There is an ordnance depot in Pune where all such knives arrived from service and then entered then kabadi system. Many knives were rubbish and once in a while a British issue or early Indian issue came in. These are good blades and I managed to grab one of these.
Files make great knives, even old band saw blades from the wooden saw mills. These get a natural temper from the heating while cutting. I had one made by a Sikh craftsman in Punjab, used and abused it for many ŷears till in the carelessness of youth I lost it.
Take care
