HI should i buy the colt king cobra???

Post by surajshuresh » Sat Jun 01, 2013 1:35 pm

hi guys i have ordered a colt king cobra in 4in barrel length. i will be getting it in some time its already been 8 weeks from ordering. Its being imported in to Australia from USA. excellent condition with box may be slightly used. I could not find anything more well build, right choice for getting it to India on TR. What do you guys think is this a good gun to get on TR. how about the availability of .357mag and the demand for .357mag. what will be the worth of the king cobra if i get it to India. I chose the colt king cobra because the prices are going up like crazy for these colts and dont even ask about the pythons. These are like a tank compared to the pythons and will last a life time. please give your opinions. Thank you...

Cartridges will be expensive.
What will be the worth? Are you importing it to sell it?

Won't the worth be immaterial since AFAIK you can't sell the firearm imported on TR in you lifetime?

Suraj,

You can sell it after 10 years from the date of import .The present worth would be about 15-18 lakhs. For handguns, a longer barrel would mean a lower price.

HI thanks for the reply guys. without IFG this journey of mine would not be possible. I have already spend couple of thousands of dollars till now i am estimating more expenses until it reaches my house in bangalore. I did not know you could sell after 10 years thanks for the info winnie_the_pooh. In 10 years i am guessing these colts will be worth at least 3 to 4 times the current cost in the US market and they will become hard to find. They will become collectors items and in India what ever you own other than a .22lr and .32acp is collectors item only because of the ammo problem. Do you guys think i made the right decision of buying this rather than getting a polymer .357sig or 1911 .38 super. I though its no use getting them because of the ammo and at least you can find .357mag even though they are expensive.

Is this true are people asking so much and for which model is that because and i guess its hard to find a colt king cobra in India because they were produced from 1986-1992 and 1994-1998 and i think the import ban was in 1986. But i saw a youtube video of a guy shooing a 6in king cobra in India. It looked new i am not sure if it was a legal gun or an illegal gun...Thank you....

Be adviced that once you have sold a TR weapon, you cant get an arms license after that.

Be careful, apparently there are a lot of guns with questionable origins in .357 mag.

Ab, why can't you get an arms license after selling a TR weapon?

A Colt King Cobra is an exceptional handgun. While they will function like any other revolver, in terms of quality, appeal and collectability they are way above the average revolver.
They are much sought after here, in the US and command high prices even today.

Suraj,

Apparently, you would be able to sell the revolver only after you turn 60.
