Damaged the Steyr

Post by bishu57 » Fri May 31, 2013 6:11 pm

Well no other way to say this but "I have been careless and stupid :(
While switching off the LP 10 E inadvertently pushed hard and the trigger switch broke (attached pic)
steyr d1.jpeg
steyr d2.jpeg
steyr d3.jpeg
Saving grace till now - the switch works fine - just has to be pushed with a fine tip - either the fine allen key or ball point pen tip

All is not lost but seems it cant be fixed here in Mumbai and worst case may have to replace the entire electronic module feeling like :deadhorse: myself

any other suggestions welcome

regards to all

Bishu,

I am sorry but I do not agree with you. A switch should not break merely by pressing hard on it, I strongly suspect you did nothing wrong.

Anyway, have you contacted Steyr yet?

Try this person if you have no other contacts:

Quality Assurance
LIVIO CAMINI
phone: +43 / (0)7435 / 202 59 - 70, Telefax: - 99
e-mail: [email protected]

Here is what their warranty states:

If within two years from the day of purchase any cracks or breaks
should occur on this weapon that are due to material failure we under-
take the repair of the defective parts free of charge (except breakage
or cracking of the stock/pistol or O-rings).
Guarantee will be given by either replacing or repairing the weapon
or parts of it at our sole discretion. The guarantee is only valid if
the fully completed guarantee card is returned immediately after
purchasing the weapon.

Best of luck! Let us know how it works out and if you are stuck with a broken switch maybe the collective here can figure something out, but hopefully this can be repaired properly.

Contacting Dhiren Bhatia is as good as getting in touch with Steyr. If you have the guarantee card/bill, then Dhiren Bhatia should get the fault rectified free of cost.

A big thank you to all three of you @ marksman, mark, bodhi. I have been feeling desperate since yesterday after the steyr distributor in Delhi - Syndicate innovation told me that this cannot be done under warranty and the whole electronic module has to be purchased by me to replace it. Am going to call Dhiren Bhatia as soon as the clock hits 8 am :-). Meanwhile am continuing to use the AP by using the iphone pin ( the one used to push out the sim tray holder ) to push the switch from on to off .

@mark immediately ( within 15 mins of the break) i sent a mail to Steyr - Manuela Wagner (Sales head) and another chap with detailed pics etc , got an auto reply that they are at the Munich World cup and would be back in office on monday and I should get a reply post that.

Hoping and praying that this gets resolved . Spent a terrible half hour yest thinking I would miss the Capt Ezekiel on 6th /7th before i figured out that i could still use the AP .

regards all

How can Syndicate deny? Talk to Bhavna at Syndicate and read her out the Warranty clause. If she doesn't respond ask to talk to Ashok Rai directly at Syndicate.

Hi Bodhi,
I called up Bhavna immediately but her stance is that the damage is done by me pushing the switch too hard and breaking it - so it comes under the mis-use damage or something and not covered by Warranty. She said she will check the parts price and revert to me on monday if i want to go ahead and order the same.

I was in no mood for an argument (which i should have in hind sight) as i was more desperate to figure out a solution and frankly feeling pretty low at my own stupidity :-)

Will try and talk to ashok rai today

thanks

Bishu,

Send me a PM with your full name, what date you purchased it, what dealer you purchased it from, and the serial number and I will personally call someone here in the States on Monday to help start "the ball rolling".

Dear Mark
Very grateful for the offer, you have got a pm from me. Meanwhile I am also writing to steyr direct as it seems hopeless to chase it up here in India

regards

Bishu

Please do take it up to the Steyr people directly and also complain to them about the quality of service in India. The Indian reps seem to be still stuck with that unhelpful attitude once a sale is made.

Mark, that is very kind of you to offer to help him.

At the hindsight, you shouldn't have said that u pushed the switch hard and broke it. Syndicate generally is helpful. My morini developed a problem after 20 days of purchase, the muzzle was loose from the grip. Syndicate replaced it free of cost, I opted for a Steyr LP10 though.
