Skyman you have watched those videos and you have some thoughts. I am not having the thoughts you are having and am unable to see what seems to be plain to you. Why don't you write what you believe are the "strategic advantages" offered by those systems and what ballefield advantages those advances have given to the nations that field those systemsSkyman wrote:Yes, put up the bofors against these.Do see what other countries have.
And then accept the need for the strategic advantages these modern systems provide.
We will talk about logistics and fighting at 15,000 feet after that.

Quite simply, currently, howitzers used by other nations can do things the bofors cannot. We must acquire similar capabilities.

You are talking vague things.
People used to indulge you before, they wont from now onwards if you keep on obfuscating your replies.
So please list down all the things about the bofors vis a vis our immediate threats and how we are at a disadvantage.

Re: Demo Of Bofors Gun!!
I linked the video for a reason. The guy clearly states the info needed - rate of fire, type of special munitions etc.Look at the time needed to fire the first round, burst fire and what not.The FH77 has evolved to become the archer.Do see what that can do and what a plain towed howitzer can.You need far fewer men and they don't even have to be exposed to fire the howitzer.
I have kept harping on about the archer for a reason. It is the truck mounted variant of the bofors.Do you understand the advantage now? Or do i have to spell it out?
As for our immediate threats, how do i know what threatens this nation? Do i have access to intel?

Re: Demo Of Bofors Gun!!
Skyman,
It may appear to you that people are picking on you. On the contrary. You do raise a lot of interesting topics to discuss. I sincerely appreciate that as it makes the board quite interesting. What some find slightly irksome is that you tend to make definitive statements without providing your views or supporting evidence and arguments. Or ask a one liner question when the other person responding to you types out a lengthy passage with the intention of sharing knowledge. You come back again to that with another one liner. After a point it becomes a tedious exercise and leaves one wondering if this is an exercise of information sharing and debating or a competition about demonstrating how knowledgeable one is.
If you intend to have discussions, please do not make conclusive statements or provide enough evidence and your own arguments to support those. You just cannot assume the readers to grasp what you are saying from the one liners or the links you post. People can find their own links and videos if they want them. If you are debating, then provide your evidence in the context of your views. That makes these discussions a lot more interesting. JMHO.
Best-
Vikram
