Dev,
You off all people know the terrible shape of my arm, we have discussed it on the phone. But I am 'inching' along in my exercise schedule. But I am happy to tell you, that my arm has imprved by at least 15%. And that is heartening for me. The moral of the story is, take it easy,Policy! :D
Regards
Hi Saar,

I know we have talked about your arm but I forget how exactly it happened. I know you developed neck problems due to a lot of training.
Good to hear of your well being and I guess you will soon be at the nationals.
I don't know about competing this year but my goal is try to be close to my old fitness levels, I suddenly look at my quintal frame and wonder how, wonder why? ;-)
Anyway I was a middle weight and then a light heavyweight in my Tae kwon Do competition days. So being about 85 kilos was natural. But in those days that was more of lean mass.
Have stopped eating rice and the dinner rotis have gone down to two, think this might help. Now, I must do a workout to keep it at four days this week. The heat is going to help me melt some of the fat ;-).

Regards,

Dev

Hi Guys,
> It's so heartening to note that 'Physical Fitness' has been taken seriously by one & all.
> BTW - Here's a simple "Test" to check the level of one's Physical Fitness.....
1. Stand straight with feet 10" to 12" apart...
2. Fold your index. middle & ring fingers so that they touch your palm while your thumb & little finger are fully extended... Its akin to miming someone making a phone call...
3. Now place the tip of your little finger on your 'belly button'.... Now having done that...
4. Try to touch the tip of your nose to the tip of your thumb by bending your head forward....Easily said....
> Did you make it????? :D
> Now this simple test tells you a whole lot about your physical fitness, such as....
1. The suppleness of your spine, shoulder muscles, neck muscles, lower back, the amount of flab outside your stomach, the qty of gas inside it
> Now having spoken about Physical Fitness & the kind of exercises one needs to do to stay in shape, hardly anyone has spoken about the next "Important" thing which is "DIET"....
> Less carbohydrates, more fibers (cereals), no red meat (ocassioanally OK) confine to poultry & fish, plenty of fresh fruits & vegetables, yoghurt + 8 to 10 glasses of water daily.....
> Avoid tobacco in any form, an ocassional beer / spirits is ok, but no indulgence please....
> Think positive....
> Yesterday is History - Tomorrow is Mystery - Today is a Gift, that's why it's called PRESENT :D
Cheers

Brihaji,

As I was reading your above post, I thought it won't be easy for me as I have a little flab on my stomach. But I was able to do it easily . That means I am somewhat fit.

Thanks Brihaji for posting this test as it reinforces the spirit to be fit all the time.

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.

3. Windmilling 100
4. Shoulder curls 100
5. Single bar 2 reps of hanging for 10 secs X twice a day.

Hi hvj1,
Curls 100

Reminded me of the time when my dad had once thrown a gauntlet at me - Try touching the nose to the floor sitting in padmasan. I set to it with gusto and did it in a week. Proved to him by sprinkling talcum on the floor and then pointing out the talcum that stuck to my nose tip and bridge. Or one summer when he said that learning 'mantra-pushpanjali' was beyond me and I was ready with it the next evening.

Ah ! Those were the days - when the "Go-Get" attitude was at its fiercest.

Thanks for being the 'nimitta-matra' of these fond memories. :-D

Thanks Brihaji,
The torque concept is a good idea, a first for me though, will implement the same from today itself. :D

HVJ1 Could you explain the difference, of how one raise the pistol to target, in Standard and Center Fire versus air?
I have caught smatterings here and there but as you know more nonsense abounds than truth.

Hello Dev,
I am tempted to answer your question but I think it would be much better if you could download the new ISSF 2013 rule book. If you go through the pistol rules you will not only get answers to your questions but it will also give you an opportunity to acquaint yourself with other interesting points.
Best Regards
