Need help with Mumbai customs

Post by Bhavit » Sat May 11, 2013 1:32 pm

Dear Members,

I am new to the community but very passionate about shooting sport. I have already had a couple of imports of .177 rifle and handguns through Pyramyd air but all of them were from Delhi customs clearing and Delhi Fedex team is amazing at doing their jobs. Unfortunately, this time my Tanfoglio Wintess 1911 BB gun is coming to Mumbai for clearance where I live. It is an amazing replica of 1911 and I cant wait for it to arrive.

Need some feedback from your experiences of Mumbai customs so I can be prepared. It is expected to land tomorrow to Mumbai and hence need urgent responses pls. Needless to say I have the letter from the Rifle club along with my ID.

Thanks & Regards
Bhavit

Hey thx Mach The Knife your reply

My concern is Fedex Mumbai had told me six months back that they dont to airgun clearance in Mumbai and I will need to hire an agent. I am not able to find one who does this kind of clearance.

Little more elaborated answer with your experience if any, will help.

Please let me know if Mumbai Fedex does clearance or not?

As far as I know, courier companys do their own clearing, irrespective of port of entry.

I agree. Just make sure you have scanned copies of documents ready once they require them from you.

I have imported a Air Pistol from Pyramid Air and could not be happier with the experience...

And so can't we. These Italians do a very fine job at these replicas but unfortunately we can not import most of the real stuff. Please make sure you share some pictures of the beauty once she is home...

Its fantastic air gun, there's no doubt about it. However, it doesn't perform that well as a BB gun.

fedex is unable to change the port that's the whole problem. I have got 3 guns cleared from Delhi without any issues.

Does any one here have a recent experience with Mumbai customs? within last couple of months?

The rules remain the same- its got nothing to do with the recent or the old experience. As far as you got the letter from the club and the ID, there shouldn't be any issue.
