Herb, I'd blame your govt for putting u in such a conundrum. In this part of the world our govt assists us in our decision making. One rifle, 25 ammo - go take a pick!
Lovely rifles you've got there. I notice differently profiled recoil pads. Are these the ones that come stock or you change them to your liking?
Hope you have a great shoot. Do share the experience.
Cheers,SS

Hi Herb,
> Firstly congrats - All 3 rifles are gorgeous, well maintained
> I would go for the SAKO 30-06 any day - simply because of its versatility in terms of ammo choice & its a well balanced weapon.
> If it's White Tail / Mulely - 150gr silver tipped & for Elk it would be 180gr - for ranges between 100yds to 250yds.
Good Luck

Great rifles Herb !
Thanks for sharing the pictures. Though I am no hunter and have only fired rifles chambered for 308 and 30-06, I would go with your Savage. Light, handy, effective. Best of luck for the hunt

PS On a personal note : I could sacrifice an arm for that CZ..... what a beauty

Hi Herb,
Not that you need any advice - all those 3 rifles are real beauties and I'm sure are all very capable of taking down deer

Pure gun porn !
Here's how I select a rifle when I go hunting (luckily living in NZ allows me the luxury of owning a few). I pick the one that I am most comfortable with in terms of knowing what the rifle can do and also knowing its limitations. I hunt almost always with a 7mm08 which is a necked down version of the .308.
Cheers,
Oggie

7mm-08 being used by someone from NZ. Wow thats news! (pun intended

).
I am thinking of starting a petition to rename the round to 7mm kiwi.

Saw a car with a sticker showing a deer in cross hairs with the lines " Life begins when hunting season starts". Oddly enough there was string of miniature Tibetan prayer flags hanging in the rear window.

Well from my point of view, i think 100 to 250 yards 308 do the the job but my first choice is allways 7MM because it's shoot flats. i am using this caliber last 20 years or so and i don't think it's heavy for the deer.
just use light bullet in 7MM like 150 gn. or so and works just fine.Anyway this is my choice.
